textile employee and a min-
ister. He was a devoted hus-
band, father, and grandfa-
ther. His family will miss his
smile and presence forever.

A native of Jacksonville,
FL, he was the son of the
late Charlie Neri and Juanita
Sprouse Hendren. He was
also preceded in death by a
sister, Mary Ann Hutchins. i¢
He was a painter.
He is survived by his wife,

Mountain,
he was the
son of the
late Rev.
Kelly Dixon
and Blanche
Patterson
Dixon. He
was also
preceded in
death by his
first wife, Sue Baker Dixon,
and sister, Peggy Tinsley.
He was a member of
Central United Methodist
Church for 55 years where
“he sang in the Chancel Choir
and was a member of the
Methodist Men. He was
retired from Lithium /FMC
after 27 years. He served in
the United States Navy dur-
ing World War II.
He was. a charter member
of the Kings Mountain
Rescue Squad since 1958. He
was an EMT and an EMT
instructor until 1986. He was
a volunteer for the
Cleveland County Red
Cross.
‘He was a member of the
Cleveland County Seniors
Golf Association. He filmed
football games and ran
boards at Kings Mountain
High School for 48 years. He
was a 2001 inductee to the
Kings Mountain Sports Hall
of Fame.
He is survived by his wife,

Mountain; daughters, Teresa

87, 103 Fulton Drive, died

Wendover.
A native of Cleveland
County, she was the daugh-
ter of the late Conrad
Hughes and Willie Eva
Dunlap Hughes. She was
the wife of the late John
Beatty Barber Sr. She was
also pre-deceased by broth-
ers John Lewis Hughes,
Harry Hughes, Eugene
Hughes, William Hughes
and Jack Hughes.
She was retired from
Hoechst Celanese and was a
member of Macedonia
Baptist Church.
She is survived by her
sons, John B. Barber Jr. of

sister and brother-in-law,

and a volunteer for
Methodist North Hospital.

years and active in all
church activities. She was a
retired secretary in the tex-
tile industry.

SC, she was the daughter of

Columbus Holmes. She was
also preceded in death by
her son, Rev. James D.
Holmes.
She was a member of
Family Worship Center,
Church of God, Kings
Mountain. She was a home-
maker and retired from Rex
Mills, Ranlo.
She is survived by her
