A native of Jacksonville, FL, he was the son of the late Charlie Neri and Juanita Sprouse Hendren. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Hutchins. i¢ He was a painter. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Baker Dixon, and sister, Peggy Tinsley. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church for 55 years where “he sang in the Chancel Choir and was a member of the Methodist Men. He was retired from Lithium /FMC after 27 years. He served in the United States Navy dur- ing World War II. He was. a charter member of the Kings Mountain Rescue Squad since 1958. He was an EMT and an EMT instructor until 1986. He was a volunteer for the Cleveland County Red Cross. ‘He was a member of the Cleveland County Seniors Golf Association. He filmed football games and ran boards at Kings Mountain High School for 48 years. He was a 2001 inductee to the Kings Mountain Sports Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife, Hilda H. Dixon of Kings Mountain; daughters, Teresa D. Williams of Kings Mountain and Donna Whitworth and husband Randy of Grover; sons Daniel G. Dixon and wife Shonni, David B. Dixon and wife Deborah, and Gregory K.
