There are about 70 entries. ‘What a show! If you missed it, be sure and come by to take a walk around. Itis one of the best shows we have ever had. The art is great. It is not just paint- ings, but a lot of wonderful pottery also. Our members have put up new art in the working area, where we show our art. That is also very good to view. At our September meet- ing Mrs. Jewell Elliott will be teaching dried flower collage. She dries all these flowers herself, and what she does with them is a wonder. The meeting is September 6 at 6:30 p.m. for social and 7 p.m. for the program. : This is such an easy, fun project and, best of all, she shows you what to do and has some examples to look at. Mandy is the granddaughter of Gene and Betty Baxter. She is a graduate of UNC Charlotte with a BSW. Derick is the grandson of Polly Phifer of Kings Mountain. ZACHARY PRICE Zachary Price is two years old Zachary Price, son of Tommy and Audra Price of Kings Mountain, was two years ° old July 27. He celebrated with a party at his church's fellowship hall on August 6. The theme was Elmo Beach Party and included Elmo decorations and balloons. Twenty-five family members and friends attended and enjoyed Elmo cake and cup- cakes, ice cream, cookies, chips, other snacks and red punch. Zach had a cake of his own cut in the shape of a #2 and it was decorated with an Elmo theme. Zach's maternal grandparents are John B. Barber Jr. and Theresa Barber. Felix Alpizar, both of Gastonia, exchanged mar- riage vows July 17, 2005 at Crowders Creek ARP Church, Gastonia. Rev. Jim McLurkin officiated. Scott Barker, organist; and Emily Fulbright and Lauren Elliott, soloists, presented a pro- gram of wedding music. A ~The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Michael Mauney Sr. of Gastonia. Her mother is the former Ava Spearman of Kings Mountain. She is the granddaughter of Ethel C. Mauney and the late James I. Mauney, and the late Catherine W. Spearman and the late Hunter T. Spearman. She is the great-granddaughter of Essie Carroll of Kings Mountain. She attended Gaston Christian School and graduated from Hunter Huss High School and UNC Charlotte. She is manager of Captain's Cap, Gastonia. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Agustin Alpizar of Texcaltitlan, Mexico. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Gillermo Lara and Ms. Taide Lopez of Las Tablas, Mexico. He is a graduate of Liberacion Campesina and is attending Gaston College (ESL). He is employed by Captain's Cap, Gastonia. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Maid of honor was Amy Mauney, sister of the bride, of Gastonia. Bridesmaids were Dominga Alpizar, sister of the groom, of Gastonia; Hope Mauney, sister of the bride, of Cove City, NC, Jessica Staton, cousin of the bride, of Hendersonville, Ashley Staton, cousin of the bride, of Hendersonville, and Esmeralda Arias, niece of the groom, of Charlotte. . Child attendants were Kali Gonzalez, Melisa Alpizar, Estofani Alpizar, nieces of the groom, and Junior Gonzalez, nephew of the groom. Luis Romero of Sharon, SC was best man. Mr. and Mrs. James Michael Mauney Sr. hosted the wedding rehearsal at the H. Lawrence Patrick Senior Life and Conference Center in Kings Mountain. The groom hosted the rehearsal dinner, catered by Nancy and Charles Scism and family, at the fellowship hall of Crowders Creek ARP Church. Following the honeymoon, the couple will reside in Gastonia.
