The Kings Mountain Herald November 3, 2005 2 OBITUARIES KINGS MOUNTAIN POLICE REPORT LOYD SHORT KINGS MOUNTAIN - Loyd Short, 66, 701 Landing Street, died Friday, October 28, 2005 at Kings Mountain Hospital. He was born in Cleveland County, son of the late J.B. and Mamie Barnes Short. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Judy Jenkins. He was retired from Foote Mineral Company and was a member of Second Baptist Church. He served with the NC National Guard 505th Engineers in Kings Mountain. He is survived by his wife, Sherry Chaney Short of Kings Mountain; sons Mark Short of Mt. Holly and Chris Short and wife Lynn of Kings Mountain; broth- ers Bill Short of Kings Mountain and Thurman Short of Blacksburg, SC; sisters Edith Jenkins, Nell Cook, and Mary Breedlove, all of Blacksburg, SC, Janie Murphy of Greenville, SC, and Kay Falls and Brenda Bowman, both of Clover, SC; eight grand- children and four great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Eugene Land, Lynn Crouch and Jerry Millwood at 3 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2005 at Second Baptist Church. Interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. LITHIA ORA LANKFORD KINGS MOUNTAIN - Lithia Ora Lankford, 93, 106 Owens Street, died Monday, October 31, 2005 at Belaire Health Care Center, Gastonia. She was born in Gaston County, daugh- ter of the late David D. and Hattie Painter Lankford. She was also preceded in death by brothers Herbert Lankford and Clemmie Lankford, and sister Pauline Lankford Shults She was a retired nurse and a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her sister, Inez : Morgan of Ilion, NY; sister-in-law, Virginia C. Lankford of Bessemer City; and nieces and nephews. The funeral was conducted by the Rev.
