Page 2A ERR OBITUARIES LOTTIE ABSHER BURTON KINGS MOUNTAIN - Lottie Absher Burton, 83, 612 Meadowbrook Road, died November 28, 2005 at her home. A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Julius Clyde and Carrie Stroupe Absher and wife of the late Lawrence Fred Burton. She was a lifelong member of Long Creek Presbyterian Church, Kings Mountain. She is survived by her son, Lawrence M. Burton of Washington, DC; daughters Elaine Butler and husband James of Chatsworth, GA and Freida Hardin and husband David of Kings Mountain; sister Edna Absher Thompson of Kings Mountain; grandchildren Carlene Mutter and husband Jeff of Dalton, GA, Belle Anne Butler of Chatsworth, Ga, Susan Holloway and husband Jim of Charlotte, and Gail Cane and husband Jonathan of Atlanta, GA; and great- grandson Riley Mutter of Dalton, GA. | The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Troy Brazwell at 11 a.m. Thursday at Long Creek Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Visitation was from 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home. SR INEZ BRAFFORD KINGS MOUNTAIN - Inez Brafford, 70, 228 Jim Patterson Road, died November 28, 2005 at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late * Clyde and Pearl Short Goins. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Chalmer Goins, and sisters Sadie Taylor, Thelma Bridges and Dorothy Payne She was a homemaker and a member of Corinth Primitive Baptist, Kings Mountain. She is survived by her husband, Philip Brafford Sr. of Kings Mountain; sons Philip Brafford Jr.and wife Elaine of Grover, and Keith Brafford and Larry Brafford, both of Kings Mountain; daughters Juna Ann Moore and Carol Boyd and husband Dale of Kings Mountain, and April Elaine Camp and husband Norman of Boiling Springs; brother Roy Goins of Grover; sisters Ruth Putnam and Pernel Patterson of Kings Mountain, Bertha Goins of Shelby and Vera Davis of Shenandoah, VA; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. The funereal will be conducted by Elders Rommie Williams and EW. Stacks at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2005 at Corinth Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. ANNIE LEE GOFORTH DICKSON BLACKSBURG, SC - Annie Lee Goforth Dixon, resident of White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain, formerly of Blacksburg, SC, died November 27, 2005 at White Oak Manor. A native of York County, SC, she was the daughter of the late. John E. Goforth and Katie Sheppard Goforth. She was wife of the late John Lawrence Dickson. She was also preceded in death b y son, Larry Dean Dickson, brothers Blease Goforth, Preston Goforth and Wilbur Goforth; sisters Ione Goforth Wallace, Jessie Goforth Blackburn, Ida Mae Goforth McSwain, and Evelyn Goforth. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church, where she served for many years as a Sunday School teacher and Training Union leader. She was a homemaker. She is survived by sons David Lawrence Dickson, John Gilbert Dickson and wife Beth, and Bobby Dickson and wife Pat, all of Blacksburg, SC; daughter-in-law Linda Dickson of Gaffney, SC; brother Elmer Goforth of Gastonia; sisters Elizabeth Greenleaf of |, Flanders, NJ, Nan Kraft of Gastonia, and Margaret Lane of Grover; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A graveside service was conducted Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Antioch Baptist Church cemetery. Rev. Vernon Craig officiated. CORINNE HAMBRIGHT STOWE KINGS MOUNTAIN - Corinne Hambright Stowe, 95, of Kings Mountain, died November 28, 2005. A native of Kings Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert Dixon Hambright and Margaret Nettie Patterson Hambright. She was married to the late Logan Perry Stowe, who died in September, 1976. She was also preceded in death by son L.P. Stowe Jr., brother Claude Hambright, and sister Ann Hambright Jackson. She is survived by her daughter, Betsy Stowe Allen of Kings Mountain; sisters Sarah Hambright Rhyne of Graham and Mary Helen Hambright Patrick of Kings Mountain; daughter-in-law Vivian Mabe Stowe of Kernersville; grandchildren Belinda Lamm of Winston-Salem, Donna Stowe of Kernersville, Steven A. Allen of Barrington Hills, IL and Tina A. Morgan of Belmont; and great- grandchild Blane A. Morgan of Belmont. A graveside service was conducted by Rev. The children of Misty Ann and Benjamin Evans Carroll, twins “Amberlyn” Faith and “Ashton” Blake Carroll, were one year old November 29. “Granny,” Mrs. Essie Wilson Carroll, was 98 years gold on November 28. The twins are the great grandchildren of Betty Jo and Evans H. Carroll Sr. and the late Johnnie and Bill Gault. They are the grand- children of Rocky and Mary G. Carroll, Delores and Kelly Curry, all of Kings Mountain. Several City of Kings Mountain attractions will be open on . Saturday, December 3 from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. prior to the city’s Christmas parade that starts at 3 p.m. The:Art Center, at 301 N. Piedmont Avenue, will be open fea- turing the Members Show. The Art Center’s 2006 calendar will be available. The William Andrew Mauney House, 1870s, on Battleground Avenue, will be open for tours. The Kings Mountain Historical Museum Foundation, 100 East Mountain Street, will feature the annual Trains, Trains, Trains exhibit and the 19th century Barber log house, behind the Museum, will also be open. At the Barber house there wfill be domestic skills and craft demonstrations by interpreters dressed in period clothing. The History and Arts Society of Bessemer City will sponsor a Christmas Tour of Homes Saturday, Dec. 3 from 3-8 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the day of showing. The Earl Christmas parade will be held at 3 p.m. December 4. Mrs. Arrie Ellis, mayor, will be the Grand Marshal and will be honored for her 20 years of service to the town. Surplus food will be distributed by the Shelby Lions Club on Wed., Dec. 7 at 8 a.m. at the Cleveland County Fairground. Those who wish to apply will not receive a card from DSS, but some form of identification is required. Those picking up food for some- one who is not able to go to the fairground must take a signed note from that person, giving their income, number in household, and current residence.
