He was born in Tampa, FL, son of the late Thomas Lee Gilbert Sr. and was retired from Lincoln Medical Center. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain. WRECKS Lewis Poston of Kings Mountain was charged with careless and reckless driving when his vehicle hit a curb at the exit ramp from I-85 south to U.S. 74. According to police, he was traveling too fast to exit. Vehicles driven by Edith Forbes, Michael Gann and Melissa Lawrence, all of Kings Mountain, struck on Business 74 at Gaston St. Damage to the Forbes vehi- cle was $6,000, damage to the Lawrence vehicle was $3,800 and damage to the Gann vehicle was $2,500. According to Cpl. J.C. Shull, Forbes ran a red light, caus-, ing Gann’s vehicle to strike the Forbes vehicle. That caused the Forbes vehicle to hit the Lawrence vehicle, which was in the turning lane. The Forbes vehicle then left the road and struck a sign at First Presbyterian * Church, causing $3,000 dam- age to the sign. Forbes and Gann were transported by EMS to Gaston Memorial Hospital.
