Director of Clinical Services Types of Wounds Proper wound care is critical to pre- venting potentially life-threatening infections. Pressure ulcers are common among individuals confined to a bed or wheelchair. Arterial ulcers develop due to complete or partial arterial blockage. Venous ulcerations, the most common type of ulcer affecting the legs, occur when a vein’s valves becomes unable to push blood back up toward the heart, so blood accumulates in the area. Diabetic foot ulcers occur with the neurological and vascular complications associated with diabetes. Diabetics often lose sensation in their feet or legs, so they are unaware of injuries. Narrowing of the small arteries, which can occur with diabetics, may also lead to ulcers. When you or a loved one requires skilled care at home, Cleveland Home Health Agency is here to help. Our clinical staff treats a wide range of medical conditions including care for surgical wounds and the types of wounds mentioned here. If you are a diabetic, our home medical equipment staff can custom fit special diabetic shoes to help protect your feet. We also offer custom fitted compression hosiery. Call or visit us at 105 T.R.
