Mayor Rick Murphrey said the city will be recipient of funds to help support the Fit Together program. The overall grant comes from the = Health and Wellness Trust Fund Commission and was for three years for a county-wide effort. The mayor will appoint a 20 member group of active local citizens with expertise in healthy activity and they will begin meeting in May and report to city council at the July meeting. Jimmy Hines, Director of Health Education and Health Promotion for the Cleveland County Health Department, will assist the group in preparing a document that will answer the question of what does the community do to support healthy eating and physical activity and lay out a vision exercise that he hopes will generate excite- ment to a strategic planning effort.
