promotes Page,
Lovelace, England
The Board of Directors of First National Bank has
announced the following promotions.
Brenda F. Page was promoted to Executive Vice President
‘and is responsible for marketing/promotions, business
development, public relations, and facility
design and maintenance.
Page began her banking career at First
National in the operations department
and, since that time, advanced through the
professional ranks within the organiza-
tion. She has completed both the NC
School of Banking and the Dale Carnegie
Management Training Program.
Page is the current Vice President of
Kings Mountain Rotary Club and an
Advisory Board member of the Life
Enrichment Center. She received the
Governor's Award for Volunteer Service
in 1991, the Cleveland County
Commission for Women’s Distinguished
Woman Award in 2003, and was recog-
nized as a Caring Volunteer by East
Elementary School. She has also been
involved with Hospice of Cleveland
County, Habitat for Humanity, Cleveland
County Chamber and Bessemer City
Chamber. She attends Putnam Baptist
Church and is married to Morris Page.
They have one daughter, Jessica.
Brenda N. Lovelace has been promoted
to Senior Vice President. As Kings
Mountain City Executive and Branch
Manager, she is responsible for all banking
initiatives in that market area.
Lovelace has been in banking for 40
years. During that time she attended
Gaston College, the undergraduate and
graduate programs of the NC School of
Banking in Chapel Hill, and the Institute
of Financial Education in Charlotte.
A member of Kings Mountain Rotary
Club, Lovelace also serves as a director of
the Life Enrichment Center, the
| Mountaineer Partnership, and Miss Kings Mountain pag-

Professional Association and was a member of the YMCA
‘Advisory Council.
In 2001 Lovelace was awarded both the YMCA Board
Member of the Year/Kings Mountain and Myrtle
Community Spirit Woman of the Year. She is married to
Edward Lovelace. They attend First Wesleyan Church in
Bessemer City and have two children, Todd and Erin, and
three grandchildren. Cs
Brittini J. England was named Administrative
Officer/Loans. At the bank’s Kings Mountain office, she
‘assists lenders in preparation of loan package documentation
-and also acts as a customer service representative.
A Cleveland County native, England has been with the
"bank since 1998. She actively participates in community
events including Relay for Life and Beach Blast. She attends

Chairman of the School
Board George Litton gave
updates on the county
school system. They have
implemented a three year
plan to move some of Crest
High School and Middle
Schools overcrowded pop-
ulations to Shelby High and
Middle. He spoke of the
Phifer Road Project which
will move 10 or 11 of the
classes that are currently in
the 17 mobile units at KMHS
into the building and out of
the trailers. Litton said that
nine schools in the county
were named honor schools
for having 90 percent of
population meeting at or
above the grade level and
for completely meeting the
No Child Left Behind guide-
lines.
He said that the school
district is ranked number
one, nationally, per capita.
He also gave the news of
Superintendent Gene
Moore’s departure from the
Cleveland County School
Board. He will be the new
Superintendent in his home-
town of Lancaster, SC. The
search for the county’s new
superintendent has begun.
The mayor of Earl Max
Hopper expressed the need
for more development in the
southern part of the county.
“We want to see change and
growth in our area,” he said.
“Where it's appropriate
we'll lead and where it’s
appropriate we'll follow.”
This is the first State of the
Community Breakfast that
they have held in southern
Cleveland County.
