Teams from All over NC, SC, and Georgia came to Shelby to participate in the Sharks Invitational Swim Meet, a major swim meet in the Long Course Season. Over 420 kids swam. ~ Coaches, parents, The Carolina Curve 12-under AA baseball team recently competed in the Best of the East June Sizzler to earn a fully paid berth to the USSA World Series July 10-16 in Knoxville, TN. The Curve has won four tournaments, finished fourth in the state and 16th in the USA. Their record is 34-22. Other sign-ups will be held June 24 at Wiener Works, July 15 at Linwood Restaurant, July 22 at Subway and July 29 at City Stadium. Students participate in job shadowing Several juniors and seniors from the Career-Technical Education classes at Kings Mountain High School were recently selected to partici- pate in a Job Shadowing Program. Students were placed with local business people for the morning to observe and learn more about careers or occupations that directly related to their CTE class or pathway for high school graduation. Students were given the opportunity to select careers they were interested in and planning to pursue after high school. The student participants for the program were: Cleveland Brown, Wendell Bunch, Eddie Byars, Matt Byrd, Tabatha Farley, Will Fredell, Kristen Long, David Mayes, Chris Miller, Megan Neely, Ashley Patel, and Regional Medical Center, KM Metals, Inc., Rockwell Automation /Reliance Electric, Scism & Son Paint and Body Shop, Talley & Smith Architects, The Shelby Shopper, Turbo Systems Inc., and Wachovia Banking. The program was coordinated by Mrs. Nancye Hager, Career Development Coordinator at Kings Mountain High School. Playground program set at David Baptist The Smart Start Family Resource Center will host a series of community play- groups beginning June 19 from 10-11:30 at David Baptist Church, 2300 David Baptist Church Road, Kings Mountain.
