WILLIAMS KINGS MOUNTAIN - Teresa Hammett Williams, 56, 299 Garrison Drive, went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital in @iE] Charlotte. She was born in Giais t on County, daughter of the late Leroy “Buowoitly 7 Hammett. In addition to her father, she was also preceded in death by her son, Blair Williams, and her daughter-in-law, Doree Williams. She was an assistant teacher for over 25 years at Grover Elementary School in Grover. She was a member of First Baptist * Church in Kings Mountain, where she was a Preschool Sunday School teacher for over 20 years. She is survived by her hus- band, Joe Williams of Kings Mountain; son Greg Williams of Kings Mountain; mother Pearl Dixon Hammett of Kings Mountain; sister Ann Harmon and husband Rick of Myrtle Beach, SC; two grandchildren, Jonah Williams and Abbie Williams; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Williams of Gastonia. The funeral was conducted by Dr. John Sloan at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 25, 2006 at First Baptist Church. Interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. JAMES IRA ‘ARIE’ CABLE CKINGS ‘MOUNTAIN James’ HE“ Ari6” Cable 96, "of White’ Oak Manor, formerly of 23 Bennett Drive, died November 25, 2006 at Kings Mountain Te] Hospital. Born in Graham County, NC, Mr. Cable was the son of the late Joseph Cable and Martha Welch Cable. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Willie Smith Cable, five brothers and three sisters. Retired from textiles, Mr. Cable worked on the Manhattan Project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee making the first atomic bomb. He also worked with the Tennessee Valley Authority building the Fontana Dam locat- ed in Cable Cove National Park which was named after the Cable family. He was a member of Missionary Methodist Church, Kings Mountain, and was an avid fisherman, hunter and a checkers champion. He is survived by his son, James Glenn Cable of Gastonia; daughters Betty C. Lewis and husband Gordon of Gastonia, Barbara C. Hawkins and hus- band Travis of Kings Mountain, and Phyllis C. Gunning of Gastonia; nine grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. James Hamrick and Clarence “Buddy” Smith at 3 p.m. Monday at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. Interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Tina Brown Weaver of Kings Mountain; parents Ronnie Weaver and Sara Blanton Weaver of Kings Mountain; son Matthew Todd Weaver of Kings Mountain; stepson Johnathan Walker of Kings Mountain; daughter Krystal Ray Weaver of Kings Mountain; and mother-in- law Joyce Brown of Kings Mountain. ROBERT OSBORN HORD MANCASTER, TN - Robert Osborn Hord, 86, passed away Thursday evening, November 23, 2006 at his home with his wife and children by his side. Mr. Hord graduated from Spartanburg Methodist in 1942 and Southeastern Louisiana State University in 1948 after serving in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was a retired Automobile Executive with General Motors Fisher Body, Inc. in Cleveland, OH. : Mr. Hord and his wife cele- brated their 52nd wedding anniversary on April 14, 2006. He was born on June 14, 1920 in Kings Mountain to his parents, the late Robert Hoyle Hord and Sarah Elizabeth Steyers Hord. He was also preceded in death by his son, Stephen Allen Hord; brothers Arthur Hord and Richard Hord; and sisters Eunice Falls, Nellie Ledford, Elizabeth Kirby and Inez Spencer. He is survived by his wife, Jo- Ann Smartt Hord of Manchester; son Mark A. (Diana) Hord of Madison, OH; daughter Sally A. (David) Rosky of Columbus, OH; brother Jerry E. Hord of Norfolk, VA; six grandchildren, Sarah E. Rosky, Allison R. Williams, Robert J. Hord, Rebecca S. Hord, Caleb M. Hord and Erin A. Hord; four great- grandchildren, Nicholas T. Williams, Angel A.
