is ELIZABETH STEWART Herald Correspondent “I'll never get acting out of my blood,” says versatile Laura Beth Moss, who recently came home for a visit with her parents, Larry and Linda Moss, after a busy schedule doing television commer- cials in New York City. Kings Mountain fiends won't believe the pretty young woman who cut her teeth as an actress in Kings Mountain High School drama shows, is 32 years old. It was 10 years ago that she played Amanda Corry on the soap, “Another World” which ran for two years and then played “Letta” in the Broadway revival of “Death of A "Eugene O'Neil Theatre on Broadway. ‘She was also seen as Maxanne Bollers in the prime time TV show, “Law and Order.” “My agent wanted me to go to Los Angeles, California and I moved but I'm an East Coast girl and LA was not for me,” said Moss, who was in “Strong Medicine” s ‘Salesman’ with Brian Dennheny at past year has giv The Kings Mountain Herald and other TV appearances before she returned to the Big Apple. She has been recuperating for 18 months from an upper cervical injury of the neck and j jaw; but is mending. Doing part time TV commercials has proved a blessing for Laura. “It’s hard to step out of the entertainment world because it’s so cut throat and I love being an actress,” says Laura. President Maxine Bennett opened the meeting with the Collect and a brief business meeting was held. It was decid- ed to sponsor a birthday party at the Life Enrichment Center in 2007. A program on Arizona: Cacti was presented by Mary Neisler. She shared her experiences trav- eling in Arizona and her obser- vations on the Cacti. School Board to meet The Cleveland County Board of Education will meet Monday, Dec.t11 ‘at 5:30 p.m. in: the County Auditorium. The board will elect a chair and vice-chair and will adopt the 2007-2008 calendar. There will be reviews and possible action on some policies and student trans- fer requests. Accor commission chair Mary Accor of Kings Mountain was elected chair of the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners at Monday's meeting. Newly-elected commissioner Eddie Holbrook was elected - vice-chairman. Food distribution set The Shelby Lions Club distri- bution of surplus commodities will be Wed., Dec. 13 at 8 a.m. at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds. Those who wish to apply for food will not receive a card in the mail. When a person is pick- ing up food for someone else, they must take a singed note from that’ person’ ‘giving their income, number in the house- hold, and current address of their residence. Mountain St., is hosting the fourth annual Trains, Trains, Trains through January 6, 2007.
