She was born in Cleveland County, daughter of the late Charles Troy and Ailene Ormand Carpenter Sr. She was also preceded in death by her son, Daniel Charles Dilling, and a brother, Meek Anderson Carpenter. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Kings Mountain, where she was a member of the Daughters of Wesley Sunday School Class, a member of Home Arts, Kings Mountain, Kings Mountain Women’s Club and was a 1945 graduate of Limestone College. She was the Secretary and Treasurer of Dilling Heating Company, Inc. for over 50 years. She loved all of her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her hus- band of 62 years, John B. Dilling; son David T. Dilling and wife Mary of Kings Mountain; daugh- ters Frances Harper and hus- band Tom of Seneca, SC, Carol Parson and husband Ken of Morristown, TN, and Sharon Barney and husband, Art, of Ft. Hill, SC; brother Charles Carpenter of Raleigh; sister Dorcus Plonk of Kings Mountain; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted by, the Rev. He was son of the late Sybil Louise Blanton Stringfellow. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Kings Mountain. He was a grad- uate of Rochester Tech Institute, Rochester, NY majoring in Photography. He was a member of the Sigma Theta Fraternity, Rochester, NY. He was an avid Carolina Panthers and Clemson Tigers fan. He is survived by his father, Bobby William Stringfellow of Kings Mountain; sisters Lyn Dimuzio and husband Michael of Kings Mountain, and Wendy Stringfellow of Greensboro; and two nephews, Jonathan Ballinger and Blake Ballinger of Greensboro. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Bill Jeffcoat at 3 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Ollie Harris Memorial ~~ Chapel. A native of Conway, SC, he was the son of the late Willie C. Suggs and Sadie Gore Suggs. He was also preceded in death by son-in-law Dennis E. Porter and grandson Eddie Porter. He was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, Kings Mountain. He was also a member of the Fairview Masonic Lodge, Kings Mountain. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, receiving the American Campaign Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He was retired from the textile industry. He is survived by his wife, Cornelia Suggs of Kings Mountain; sons Dale Suggs and wife Jane of Shelby and Jerry D. Suggs and wife Julia of Charleston, SC; daughter Wanda S. Porter of Shelby; brother Paul Suggs and wife Betty of Conway, SC; sisters Lucy Caddell of Hixon, TN and Eula Stevens of Lawrenceville, GA; 10 grandchil- dren and two great-grandchil- dren. Here are a few tips to keep you safe and on the right side of the law this holiday. Cleveland County Fire Inspector Bobby Horton said that fire- works in North Carolina also cannot have more than four grams of what is considered to be explosive material. According to americanpyro.com, the ones that are allowed include: sparklers, fountains, smoke devices, snake and glow worms, trick noisemakers, and toy pistol caps. The National Council on Fireworks Safety advises con- sumers to only ‘buy fireworks from reputable, licensed dealers and never from an individual's house or on the street. Fireworks should be marked with direc- tions and/or warnings and with the country where they were manufactured. They should not be unpackaged or wrapped in brown paper bags. NCFS warns that handmade fireworks are not just illegal but they are often very dangerous and account for most of the injuries sustained from fireworks each year. th ¢ Other Safety tips from 'NCFS w and | Sat iw # Use common sense. # Only: use fireworks outdoors. # Always read and follow label directions. % Obey all local laws regarding the use of fireworks. 3# Children under age 16 should only use fireworks with adult supervision. An adult should always be present. # Leave pets indoors when using fireworks or at home when going to a fireworks display. Pets, especially dogs, have very sensitive ears and the booms and bangs associated with fireworks can hurt their ears and possibly damage their hearing. # Never experiment or make Pw own fireworks. ¢ Light only one firework at a time. # Always have a bucket of water, or water hose nearby. # Never re-light a “dud” fire- work. Wait 15-20 minutes then soak it in a bucket of water. *# Store fireworks in a cool, dry place. # Never give fireworks to small children. # Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water and then.throwing them away. # Never throw or point fire- works at other people. # Never carry fireworks in your pocket. #* Never shoot fireworks in metal or glass containers. # The shooter should always wear eye protection and never have any part of the body over the firework. #% Don’t drink and shoot. Never mix alcohol-consumption with using fireworks. # Parents pay special attention to children using sparklers. This common childhood treat.reaches temperatures up to 1800 degrees Fahrenheit. Children should not touch the lit portion of sparklers, throw them or play games with them.
