Robinson and an unnamed accomplice, already behind bars, are suspected to have transport- ed two young girls across state lines, from South Carolina to Kings ‘Mountain, where they - ended up at the Holiday Inn Express on August 1, 2007. Charges allege that the men had “inappropriate sexual behavior with the defendant,” including crimes against nature, which is defined by North Carolina courts as sodomy. Under the state laws, the gen- eral age of consent for sexual activities among both males and females is 16. Anyone under 16 is not considered able to give con- sent. Robinson was held at the Cleveland County Detention Center under a $100,000 secured bond. HEFFNER From Page 7 Every station has its own little quirks. One of them likes to send its helicopter out to hover over a building while a reporter, in a serious tone, tells watchers that an important meeting will take place in that building later today. I am sometimes overcome with giggles. Anytime a murder takes place in the world class city, you are told about it immediately and for days thereafter. If New York or Washington followed suit, those cities would have nothing but murder in and on the news con- stantly. Rupert Murdoch might even start a murder channel. NBC’s morning show has been running its annual “Where in the world is Matt Lauer?” The seg- ment can sometimes be interest- ing, but it isn’t nearly the block- buster they'd like us to believe it is. Now, the local NBC outlet is running a “Where in the world is Larry Sprinkle?” segment, and, let me tell you, it has been exciting. The very first day, while Matt was in Everett, Washington, Larry traveled all the way to Concord. The next day, Matt flew to Bhutan, and Larry made his way to Hendrick Motor Sports. I can hardly wait for the thun- derstorms to roll in. The world class city news outlets are all proud of their weather coverage, and they will interrupt your favorite show at the drop of a lightning bolt to tell you the storm is nearing your neighbor- hood and you are probably going to be fried to a turn. When complaints rolled in to one of the stations a couple of years back, the one with all the cameras, their weatherman told the audience the next day that he was saving lives, and that those who had complained would think twice if their mother was caught in a deadly, two-light- ning-bolt thunderstorm.
