19, 2007 at
White Oak
Manor, Kings
Mountain.
She was
born in Gaston
County. She
was the daugh-
ter of the late
"Marion Philo
and Miley
Medlin
Cloninger. She was wife of the
late Oliver T. “Red” Falls. She
was also preceded in death by
brother Everette Cloninger, sis-
ters Helen Price and Doris Ware,
and son-in-law Darrell Austin Sr.
She was a member of Central
United Methodist Church, Kings
Mountain. She was an employee
of Belk’s, Charlotte, for 15 years.
She was known for her baking.
She is survived by her daugh-
ter, Shirley F. Austin of Kings
Mountain; two grandchildren,
Amy Thomas and husband Rev.
Lee Thomas of Kings Mountain,
and Darrell Austin Jr. and wife
Dana of Kings Mountain; and
five great-grandchildren, Ben
Austin, Will Austin, Austin
. Ware, Hunter Ware and Marina
Thomas.
A graveside service was con-
ducted by the Rev. Lee Thomas
at 3 p.m. Thursday, September
20, 2007 at Mountain Rest
Cemetery.

GROVER - William Ernest
Etters, 90, 107 Chestnut Street,
died September 20, 2007 at his
home.
He as born in Cherokee
County, SC, son of the late Jesse
Abram and Mamie Lee
Montgomery Etters. He was also
preceded in death by his sister,
Mabel Etters Roberts.
He was retired from Minette
Mills in Grover, and was a
farmer. He was a lifelong mem-
ber of Antioch Baptist Church,
Blacksburg, SC, and enjoyed gar-
dening. He leaves cherished
memories.
He is survived by his wife of 50
years, Runell Cochran Etters of
Grover; and a number of nieces
and nephews.
A graveside service was con-
ducted by the Rev. Vernon Craig
at 2 p.m. Sunday, September 23,
2007 at Antioch Baptist. Church
cemetery, Blacksburg, SC.

ELAINE DEMITRI ROCKEY
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Elaine
Demitri Rockey, 71, a resident of
Kings Mountain, died September
22, 2007 at Summit Place
Assisted Living in Kings
Mountain.
She was born in Stuberville,
OH, daughter of the late Albert
Demitri and
Elizabeth
Traversa
Demitri. She
was also prede-
ceased by her
husband, Dr.
Arthur G.
Rockey, and
her brother,
John Demitri.
Elaine
Rockey was an accomplished
professional artist and lover of
the arts. She relished traveling to
Italy, having the opportunity to
paint in a castle north of Venice.

Her artwork, unlike most
artists’, spanned a variety of
styles and media. She was
always changing, always learn-
ing. Elaine was active in the
Guild of Charlotte Artists, the
N.C. Watercolor Society, the
Southern Arts Society in Kings
Mountain and the Charlotte
Opera Guild.
She was a resident of Charlotte
for four decades. She lived inde-
pendently for twenty years after
her husband, Dr. Arthur Rockey,
passed away. She was proud of
him and her daughters, Arlaine
Rockey and Gina Collias.
Elaine enthusiastically sup-
ported her daughters” endeavors
and loved spending time with
her five grandchildren, who she
taught to paint at a young age.
Elaine had many enduring
friendships, each one of which
she cherished. The most com-
mon remark about Elaine,
uttered by friends, acquaintanc-
es, and even those who took care
that she was one of the sweetest
people they knew.
She was a member of St.
Michael’s Catholic Church in.
Gastonia. She: truly enjoyed a
well lived life.
She is survived by her daugh-
ters, Gina Collias and husband
Dr. Dean Collias of Kings
Mountain, and Arlaine Rockey of
Marshall; brother Alfred Dimitri
of Clearwater, FL; five grandchil-
dren, Sabrina Collias, Ethan
Collias, Celia Collias, Marissa
Rockey and Justin Rockey.
A Rosary service was held at 7
p-m. on Monday evening at
Harris Funeral Home in Kings
Mountain, with visitation imme-
diately following.
The funeral was conducted by
Father Roger K. Arnsparger at
10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September
25, 2007 at St. Michael's Catholic
Church, Gastonia. Interment was
in Sharon Memorial Park,
Charlotte.

Luke W. Hoyle. She was a mem-
ber of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in
Cherryville and retired from
Hoyle Inc. in Kings Mountain.
She was a wonderful person and
will be missed by family and
friends.
She is survived by her daugh-
ter, Leslie Hoyle Houser of Kings
Mountain; sisters Edna Morrison
of Cherryville and Mary Lou
Walker of Valdese; grandchil-
dren Michael Hoyle and Brittany
Houser; and great-grandchildren
Yasmim Hoyle and Karmen
Ruthie Nixon.
The funeral was conducted by
the Rev. Wayne Key at 4 p.m.
Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at

A native of Cleveland County,
he was the son of Mayola Hayes

He was a member of New birth

JESSE W. MOREHEAD**
Jesse William Morehead, age
70, of Rockingham died Monday,
September 17, 2007 at his home.
Mr. Morehead was born June
25, 1937 a son of the late Worth
William and Ethel Shehan
Morehead. He was a member of
Temple Baptist Church and
Masonic Lodge #339 both of
Kings Mountain, N.C. He retired
from Liberty Life Insurance Co.
after 30 years of service where he
was an agent, staff manager,
training assistant, and Manager
of the Rockingham office. He
graduated from Kings Mountain
High School and was a member
of the LUTC insurance under-
writers. Before his illness, he was
an avid fisherman; also loved to
host cookouts for his co-workers
of Liberty Life. He was preceded
in death by a’ son William
Christopher Morehead.
He is survived by his wife of 50
years Jane Yarbrough Morehead
of the home, one son Kevin Wray
Morehead and wife Debbie of
Rockingham, daughter Tammy
and husband Kevin Pattan of
Rockingham, grandchildren Seth
Pattan, and Miles Pattan of
Rockingham, Susannah
Morehead of Hamlet and Stevie
Allen of Pine Bluff, and one great
grandchild Lexie Allen of Pine
Bluff.
