In other actions, Council: +approved a request by Vicki Spencer to dredge a limited por- tion of Moss Lake in the Farmington Subdivision, 106 Rosebank Dr., to impfove boat- ing access. +appointed councilman Howard Shipp as the voting del- egate and councilman Dean Spears alternate to the N. C. League of Municipalities con- vention Oct. 14-16 in Fayetteville. +Awarded contracts for administrative services for the CDBG Ingles project to Isothermal Planning & Development not to exceed $11,600 and contingent on state approval. +ordered the demolition in 90 days of a vacant mobile home at 706 Bethlehem Road, the owner in violation of the city’s mini- mum housing code. The cost of demolition will be charged to the owners and if not paid in 30 days a lien against the property incurs. +okayed the 21-lot Long Meadows Subdivision Preliminary plan. Owner Mark Beach proposes to subdivide the land for the purpose of creating a public road right-of-way. +approved a concealed weapons class for the public to be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at the police firing range. The cost is $15 and is mandatory training before a permit can be issued to anyone to carry a concealed weapon. Instructors are Sgt. Jimmy West and Sgt. Steve Harris. +okayed the lowering of speed limit to 25 mph on Oakland, Hermitage, Sandhurst and Huntingtowne Streets for safety of children. Blood drives Tuesday at two local churches Two blood drives are sched- uled in the area on Tuesday, Oct. 2 There will be a drive at First Baptist Church, Grover, from 3- 7:30 p.m. There will be a drive at Christian Freedom Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, from 2-6:30 p.m. Cleveland County Fair opens today The 83rd annual Cleveland County Fair will celebrate it’s official Opening Ceremony tonight at 9: 30 p.m. with a fire- works display on the Grandstand. This year’s fair hosts a variety of entertainment venues to please every fairgoer.
