Brandon Mitchell scored all three goals for KM. Mitchell got ‘his first hat trick ot his high school career. His first goal was from a throw in that went off a Burns player and into ie goal. He later took on the Burns defense by himself to score two more goals. KM lost 9-1 to R-S Central in the last Southwestern Conference game. KM's lone goal was from Daniel Bearden from a penalty kick in the last minute of the game. KM will play at Olympic in the first round of the state play- offs. Playing in the rain, the Patriots mis-kicked the opening kickoff and drove it into one of WL's up guys. ~~ KMrecovered and launched an 8-play drive which resulted in a touchdown run by Samuel Jenkins for a 6-0 lead. Two plays ‘later Robbs returned an interception 35 yards to make it 12-0. - After West Lincoln cut it to 12- 6, KM went up 20-6 on a touch- down run by Robbs and two- point conversion by Jenkins. KM drove the second half kickoff 65 yards to go up 26-6 on a quarterback sneak by Mitchell Cloninger. After another mis-kick, KM recovered the ball again and Robbs scored a rushing TD and two-point conversion to make the score 34-6. West Lincoln cut the difference to 34-12 before KM ended the scoring on a 60-yard run and two-point conversion by Alex Castellano. Kings Mountain had two weeks to prepare for the game after a bye week. During that time, several players recovered * from injuries. “We're definitely playing much better since getting every- body back on the team,” said Coach Monty Deaton. “We came out and did what we had to do to win the game on a wet field.” Kings Mountain was sched- uled to play North Lincoln yes- terday and will end its season next Wednesday at Burns. “We'd like to play the spoilers role,” says Deaton. “If we beat them we can put them out of a three-way tie for the division championship.” Burns, East Lincolnton and Lincolnton currently share the lead. The team that wins the tie- breaker procedure will advance to play the West Division winner (the Shelby-Crest winner) for the overall conference champi- onship.
