Page 6 The Kings Mountain Herald November 1, 2007 YOUR RicgHT TO Say It Thanks for support of club’s fall festival To the Editor: Thank you to Kings Mountain! Every year our club sponsors the Kings Mountain Woman's Club Fall Festival. This festival has been a tradition for many years. It allows us to continue serving our community as a club. We look forward to seeing busi- ness owners, community volun- teers, public servants and com- : munity members at large come together for the fall festival. There is always lots of food, fun and time spent with friends and family. Each year, we are amazed at how much support and partic- ipation we have from within the community. This year was no exception. It is all the wonderful people in our small town that makes this event possible. On behalf of the Kings Mountain Woman's Club, I want to say a big “Thank You” to our commu- nity. We sincerely hope you had as much fun as we did! We look forward to next year. Please con- tact Lori Sutherland (704-739- 2292) if you have suggestions or comments about the fall festival. - Sincerely, Lori R. Sutherland Kings Mountain Woman's Club Fall Festival Chair Wake up, citizens of Kings Mountain To the Editor: Citizens of Kings Mountain, wake up. Your city fathers have gone behind your back while you were working or resting from a hard day and gone behind your back in near secret to extend their terms in office from two years to four years. It is oblivious that they have clearly no memory of what you sdid loud and clear in 1995. It is time for you to stand up and say enough is enough. All of you go home and allow people who are really concerned to get elected to office and clean up the messes you have made. Someone on City Council said he was willing to stand on his record of service in Kings Mountain. I really wonder if he means this. His mouth may have made a statement his rear end winds up regretting. Citizens of Kings Mountain, wake up. Take your little town back from the leaches. Jim Martin Kings Mountain (Resident of ETJ) Vote for Hambright for KM City Council To the editor: Avery important day will soon be here. By that I mean Tuesday, November 6. I hope we will have a big turnout at the polls this year. Kay Hambright is a dedicated Christian lady that I've known for many years and was in church with her part of that time. Kay’s honesty and integrity is above reproach. I would like to see more women in the government and I believe she would serve the peo- ple of Kings Mountain to the highest of her ability. She can be trusted to work hard and to keep her word and have the interest of others in all that she accomplishes and endeavors to do. Remember, Kay for City Council. Vote right! Vote Hambright! Iris Biddy Kings Mountain ‘Bunch’ of support for Rodney Gordon To the editor: In 1979 and 1980 a high school student by the name of Rodney Gordon worked part-time in our fabrication manufacturing facili- ty located in Kings Mountain. Rodney was a hard working, - dedicated employee. His work ethics, desire to learn and lead, and desire to succeed in life was evident as a young man. Rodney left us to pursue his life long career in the heating and air conditioning industry. We have observed Rodney’s success in business as he has developed relationships with customers like Duke Energy, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, Presbyterian Novant Health Care, and the U.S. General Services Administration which takes him into federal facilities such as federal courthouses throughout North Carolina and the White House Complex in Washington, DC. We feel comfortable having a successful business owner like Rodney lead our city into the future. Without hesitation we endorse him as our candidate in Ward 4. We encourage the voters of Ward 4 to go to the polls and vote for Rodney Gordon on Tuesday, November 6, 2007. Families of Wendell Bunch and Kelly Bunch Kings Mountain Ward 4 resident endorses Gordon To the editor: Iam delighted to endorse Rodney Gordon, my city council- man in Ward 4, for another term on the Kings Mountain City Council. He brings honesty, integrity and a vast experience in business to better serve us, his constituents. We, the citizens of Ward 4, are really blessed to have him representing us on city council. It is not everyone who has a godly man of Rodney's cal- iber representing them in gov- ernment. There are a couple of measures of a man which speak volumes regarding the kind of person he is: 1 - What do the people who work with him in business and relate to him every day have to say about him? Iam privileged "to serve as the Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Lowell. One of my deacons is a “top service technician in the com- pany Rodney owns. The reports I hear are that Rodney treats his associates in business with the highest respect, dignity and com- pensation. That from folks who observe the kind of person he is every day - not just what we observe at City Hall. 2 - When we have a problem or an issue with our city services or city government, what kind of response do we get? I can give testimony to this fact. I have never had an issue, major or minor - and most have been minor - that Ihave addressed with my city councilman, Rodney Gordon, that has not been promptly taken care of in a most satisfactory and efficient manner. [ am amazed at the awe- some service we get from Kings Mountain city government. We are blessed to have this good man represent Ward 4 here in Kings Mountain, and I for one sure plan to work to keep him there. Sincerely, Dr. David A. Irish Ward 4 resident Connie Phifer Savell for CC School Board To the editor: We are fast approaching the November elections. We hope everyone will cast their vote for the candidates of your choice. We have several seats open for the Cleveland County School Board. We would like for the cit- izens of Cleveland County to cast their vote for a lady who has given 31 years to the education of our children. She has taught all these years in a classroom rather than going into adminis- tration. She understands the enormous role the School Board plays in the lives of children, teachers, parents and school per- sonnel. She understands the needs and concerns of our dedi- cated teachers, parents and chil- dren. She will work hard for all these needs. Her main goal in running is to bring an insight of the realities of the classroom into the administrative decision mak- ing process at the school board level. 3 She has retired after 31 years of service in the classroom and has plenty of time to devote, whatev- er it takes to make Cleveland County School System the best it can be for our children and teachers. The future of our county will be in the hands of our children. Please join us in electing Connie Phifer Savell to the Cleveland County School Board. Connie will work for our kids! Steve and Sondra Wilson Kings Mountain savell will look out for interest of kids To the editor: I spent over 28 years in the Cleveland County School System as a teacher. I chose teaching as a career to help mold young minds into responsible adults. Teaching is a very challenging profession; you do not do for the pay. With the school board election only a few weeks off, we have a very important decision to make. I would like for you to vote for Connie Phifer Savell for Cleveland County School Board. Connie is a retired classroom teacher who chose to stay in the classroom and help form young minds instead of working in business. She did not do this for money. She taught in the classroom for over 31 years. She did this because of a passion to help edu- cate and inspire our children and grandchildren to be the best they can be, and to follow their dreams. We need more people like Connie; ‘therefore; Iam asking you to vote for her for Cleveland County School Board. She is ded- icated and a hard worker who will always look out for the best interest of our kids. This is what Ilook for in a school board member, Ihope you do the same. The future of our country is our kids! Claudia Goforth Grissom Kings Mountain Kings Published every Thursday Periodicals postage at Kings: Mountain, NC 28086 USPS 118-880 by Republic Newspapers, Inc.
