CHARLES H. ‘CHARLIE’
: HAMPTON
KINGS = MOUNTAIN -
Charles H. “Charlie” Hampton,
78,900 oye Street, died March
1, 2008 at his
home.
He was
Murphy, son
of the late
James Henry
and Gracie
Fullbright
Hampton.
He was also
preceded in death by his first
wife, Betty Weaver Hampton,
his second wife Becky Roper
Hampton, and his sister, Louise
H. Gupton.
He was retired from PPG after
over 30 years of service. He was
a member of Grace United
Methodist Church, where he
served as PPR Chairman and on
the Administrative Council. He
was also a member of the
American Legion. He served in
the United States Navy during
the Korean War and received
numerous medals.
He was a loving husband,
father, and grandfather. He
loved going to watch his grand-
sons play baseball.
He is survived by his daugh-
ters, Kim Brymer and husband
Roger of Gastonia, Lisa Austin
and husband Chuck of Kings
Mountain, and Robin Bridges
and husband Jeff of Kings
Mountain; five grandchildren,
Laura Howell, Chad Bridges,
CJ. Austin, Cody Austin and
Jordon Brymer; and nephew Dr.
Marshall Gupton and Lynda of
Nashville, TN.
The funeral was conducted by
Dr. Marshall Gupton and Rev.
Michael B. Harrill at 11 a.m.
Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Grace
United Methodist Church.
Burial was in Mountain Rest
Cemetery.

died Wednesday, February 27,
2008 at Carolinas Medical
Center, Charlotte.
A graveside service was held
at 11 a.m. Friday at Mountain
Rest Cemetery, Kings
Mountain, with Rew.

Williams officiating.
Born in Kings Mountain, Mr.
Hullender was a son of the late
Charley Webb Hullender and
Nellie Mae Webb Hullender.
He was a retired owner and
operator of Hullender’s Garage.
He attended schools in Kings
Mountain and was U.S. Army
veteran during WWII having -
received the Purple Heart. He
was a Methodist and the wid-
ower of Helen Frances Boyles
Hullender. |
Surviving are one daughter,
Charlye H. Bailey of Chester;
one granddaughter, Amanda K.
Moore and her husband Lin of
Chester; one grandson, Charles
L. Dove and his wife Tracy of
Chester; and two great grand-
children, Christopher and
Dakota Dove of Chester.

DORUS WILLIAM ORMAND
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Dorus
William Ormand, 80, passed
away at Cleveland Regional
Medical Center on March 1,
2008.
He was born August 7, 1927
in Gaston County, son of Robert
D. and Georgia Hoover
Ormand III. He was also pre-
ceded in death by brother Bob
Ormand, and sister Lucille
McCauley.
Mr. Ormand retired from the
Dept. of Transportation in 1988.
He was a U.S Navy veteran and
a member of Long Creek
Presbyterian Church.
. He is survived by his wife of
59 years, Fayette Ormand of the
home; son Mike Ormand of
Kings Mountain; daughters
Sandy Homesley and husband
Sam of Cherryville and Vicky
Franklin and husband Rick of
Kings Mountain; sister Sarah
Alice Hoover of Shelby; five
grandchildren, Paige Berry,
Richie Franklin, Brent
Homesley, Michael - Franklin
and April Ormand; and one
great-grandchild, Taylor Berry.
The funeral was conducted by
the Rev. Troy Braswell at 3:30
p-m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at
Long Creek Presbyterian
in the
church cemetery. Pallbearers
were Johnny McCauley, Danny
Berry, Bill Bridges, Jerry Malk
and Jo-D Franklin.

Mae Weaver.
She was a homemaker and
beloved mother, grandmother,
and great-grandmother. She
was a member of Cherokee
Street ‘Baptist Church, and for-
mer member of Bethlehem
Baptist Church.
She is survived by her hus-
band of 58 years, Thurman J.
Lyon of Kings Mountain; sons
Mark Lyon and Gary Lyon, both
of Kings Mountain; daughters
Yvonne Lyon Bridges of Kings
Mountain and Angela Lyon
Hinton and husband Don of
Gaffney, SC; sisters Faye
Ormand and husband Bill of
Bessemer City, Lauris Wray of

TN. She was the daughter of

Dora Seals Drinnon. She was
wife of the late Floyd Payne.
She was a member of
Macedonia Baptist Church
and was retired from the tex-
tile industry.
She is survived by her son,
Gerald Payne of Kings
Mountain; brothers Floyd
Drinnon, David Drinnon and
Herschel Drinnon, all of
Sneedville, TN; and two
grandchildren, Robin Pickett
of Jacksonville, FL. and Mark
Payne of Kentucky.
The funeral was conducted

1 p.m. Wednesday, March 5,
