Two plays set at KMLT EMILY WEAVER eweaver@kingsmountainherald.com The Kings Mountain Little Theatre presents “The Aurelia Women’s League Flower and Garden Show Gala Planning Committee” and “After a Fashion,” two one-act plays, to be held at the Joy Performance Center on May 2, 3,9, and 10 at 7:30 p.m. and on May 4 at 3 p.m. The plays, written by Judy Simpson Cook, are under the direction of Dr. Dottie McIntyre. Cook, a NC play- wright, will be present at the Sunday performance. A recep- tion, sponsored by J. Oliver’s, will be held in her honor after the production, giving those in attendance a chance to meet and talk with the playwright. Tickets for $10-general admission - and $8- students /seniors will be avail- able at the box office prior to each show. Season ticket hold- ers of KMLT, Greater Shelby Community Theater and Rutherford Community Theater are encouraged to attend. Grover Woman’s Club meeting The Grover Area Woman's Club will be hosting a presentation on “The Spirit of Women,” May 1 at 7 p.m. at Grover Town Hall. Paula Vess, with Carolinas Healthcare System, will speak about the “Spirit of Women” program offered at Cleveland Regional Medical Center, in Shelby. The event is free and open to the public. KM City Hall to host KMNMP meeting Kings Mountain National Military Park will host two public open house meetings to kick off the park’s General Management Plan. The first meeting will be at Kings Mountain City Hall on Tuesday, May 6 between 3-7 p.m. The second meeting will be at the York Electric Cooperative, 1385 E. Alexander Love Highway, York, SC, Wednesday, May 7. The GMP establishes fundamental goals and objectives for the park with regard to protecting and preserving its natural and cul- tural resources and for providing visitor services and achieving desired visitor experiences. The public is invited to the meetings. Each open house will feature a brief slide presentation at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. explaining the GMP process, followed by ques- tions and answers and opportunities for the public to contribute ideas for management of the National monument.
