The Kings Mountain Herald June 12, 2008 A 2 OBITUARIES JESSIE HORD PENNINGTON KINGS MOUNTAIN - Jessie Hord Pennington, 94, died June 2, 2008 at White Oak Manor where she was a resident. Owner of Pennington Studio, she was a member of South Fork Baptist Church in Winston-Salem. Native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Lester Clarence and Minnie Baldwin Hord and was widow of William Lee Pennington. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Odell Hord, Paul Hord, Tim Hord and Jake Hord; and sisters, Mary Treadway, Lela Huffstetler and Elizabeth Carter. Surviving are her daughter, Patricia Ann Tap of Murrells Inlet, SC and her brother, L. C. Hord Jr. of Charlotte. The memorial service was held Thursday. June 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. Harris Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. ALFRED W. (FRED) BIMROSE KINGS MOUNTAIN - Alfred William “Fred” Bimrose, III, 74, of 611 Crescent Circle, died June 3, 2008 at home. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was the son of the late Alfred William Bimrose Jr. and Eileen Joan Donahue Bimrose. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Jack Bimrose, Jimmy Bimrose and Tim Bimrose. An art dealer, he owned Alfred’s Art in Kings Mountain and was a writer of short stories that have been published. He was an alumni of the University of Notre Dame and a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church where he served on the church Council for three years and was President of the Council for two years. Surviving are his wife, Shirley Houser Bimrose of Kings Mountain; - two daughters, Theresa Marie Amberger and husband Dennis of Indianapolis, Indiana and Susan Eileen McClain and hus- band Scott of Columbus, Ohio; sons, Alfred William “Bill” Bimrose IV and wife Irene of Morton, Ill, Kevin Thomas Bimrose and wife, Meranda of Indianapolis, Michael Noble Bimrose and wife Jodi of Appleton, WI and Dan Patrick Masonic Bimrose and wife Lindsay of Aurora, Indiana; stepdaughter Laura Ann Johnson and hus- band, Sam, of Jamestown, NC; sisters, Anne Muraski and hus- band Richard of St Louis, Mo. Jane Buchner and husband, Loren of Overland Park, KS, brother, Tom Bimrose of Eminence, MO; 15 grandchil- dren and two great-grandchil- dren. The memorial service was held Saturday, June 7, 2008 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Rev. William Jeffcoat and Rev. Marty Ramsey officiated and interment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. The family received friends following the service in the church fellowship hall. Melton, 44, of 2929 Colony Woods Dr., died June 1, 2008 at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia. A native of Gaston County, he was the son of Harry Melton of Belmont and the late Priscilla “Prissy” Guyton Melton. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Belmont and a Past Master Mason of Lodge 369 of Gastonia and a member of the Moose Lodge. He was Vice- President of Am i ty Finance Inc. in Gastonia. He loved and lived life to the fullest and he was loved by everyone. Surviving, in addition to his father, are his brother, Chip Melton and wife Debbie and their family of Roswell, Ga;. his maternal grandmother, Norma Guyton of South Port and his fiancee, Tammy Ramsey and her sons, Justin and Clay Ramsey of Gastonia. The graveside service with rites was held Saturday, June 7, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Mark Andrews offici- ating, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. JERRY VERDIS WRIGHT CONCORD - Jerry Verdis Wright, 67, of 348 Aycock Street, died Sunday, June 8, 2008 at Carolinas Medical Center Northeast following a brief ill- ness. Born in Kings Mountain, he was son of the late Clem Wright and and the late Wilma Sellers Wright. He was a self-employed real-estate broker. Jerry gradu- ated from Bethware School in Kings Mountain. He moved to Charlotte to work in construc- tion, then to Concord to work in real estate. Jerry met may new friends while employed at Danny’s Convenience Store. He was an avid hunter and fisher- man. He also enjoyed camping and spending time at the lake. Jerry was also a big NASCAR fan. He is survived by his son, Jerry Shane Wright and fiance Shelby of Mint Hill; his daugh- ter, Ashlie Wright Kostelnik- Hancock and husband Jeff of Concord; his brother Johnny Wright of Kings Mountain; and grandchildren, Stephan Wright, Michala Wright, Lauren and Lainie. NELLINE PARRISH CABLE BURLINGTON - Nelline Parrish Cable, 81, of 1011 Ava Street, Burlington, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Alamance Regional Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, she was the wife of Frank Preston Cable, who survives, and the daughter of the late Robert N. Parrish and the late Etta Harmon Parrish. She retired from Dan River Mills and was currently the “soda jerk” at Asher-McAdams Drug Company. She was also a mem- ber of First United Methodist Church of Elon. Other than her husband, of the home, she is survived by one daughter, Nancy Cable Sartin of Elon; two sons, Ronnie P. Cable and Donnie F. Cable and his wife Stephanie, all of Burlington; one sister, Orangel McDaniel of Kings Mountain; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Faye Cable. The funeral was conducted by Rev. Terry Huffines at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at First United Methodist Church of Elon. Interment was in Alamance Memorial Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; his mother and father, Harvey and Ella Smith; his brothers, Ralph, Elmer and Euela Smith; and his sister, Estelle Smith. He is survived by his daughter, Sandy Blanton and husband Buddy; grand- daughter, Tammy Randle and husband George; grand- son, Jeff Blanton; two great grandchildren, all from Cherryville; sister, Ruby Dye of Gastonia; and several neices and nephews. He was a retired brick mason and served in World War II from 1941 until 1945.
