The Kings Mountain Herald July 31, 2008 A OBITUARIES BKM PoLICE REPORT LAWRENCE ALLEN, SR. GASTONIA - Lawrence Donald Allen, Sr., 75, of 225 Mountain Village Circle, died July 18, 2008, at home. He was born ‘August 15, 1932, in Cleveland County, to the late Authur Davis and Rose Dobbins Allen. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Allen; son-in-law, Bill Vaughan; daughter-in law, Sharon Allen; brother, Bill Allen; sisters, Laura Mae Glenn and Joan Allen; and, mother-in-law: Louise Allen. He is survived by sons, Donnie Allen and wife Patricia of Kings Mountain, Jimmy Allen of Bessemer City, Kenny Allen and wife Betsy of Hickory; daughters, Teresa Allen of Bessemer City, Kathy Allen and husband Johnny of Gastonia, Rachel Morris and husband Matthew of Myrtle Beach, SC, Christina Watkins and husband Jeff of Bessemer City; brothers, A.D. Allen and wife Ann of Spartanburg, SC; sisters, Virginia Smith and Margaret Patterson both of Kings Mountain, Lib Smith of Spartanburg, SC, Barbara Stacy of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Jimmy, Tabitha, Chad, Tina, Christopher, Andrew, Christina, Dannielle and Alvin; and, great- grandchildren, Tyler, Destiny, Damond, Cierra, Zayda, Jovanny, Diana and Austin. RONNIE MERCK KINGS MOUNTAIN -— Ronnie Merck, 60, of 125 Belmar Road, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at his home. He was born in Gaston County, son of the late Charles Vernon and Clara Martin Merck. He was an employee of Kings Mountain Mineral, Inc. and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife, Gene Head Merck of Kings Mountain; son, Jeffery "Boe" Smith of Gastonia; daughters, Kimberly and Rhonda Merck of Lincolnton; brothers, Chuck Merck and Doug Merck, both of Kings Mountain; sisters, Sheila Smith and husband Ken of Kings Mountain, Gail Peterson of Grover, Beverly "Sissy" Hacker and husband Raymond of Ocala, Fla, Tammy Stokes and husband Rev. Robert Stokes of Lakeland, Fla.; sister-in-law, Terry Merck of Shelby; and, two grandchildren. A memorial service was con- ducted by the Rev. Virginia Avenue, Bessemer City, died July 26, 2008 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. was born in G aston County, son of the late Joseph Blake Harrison. He was an employee of Beverly Knits Inc. in Gastonia for 25 years. He was of the Baptist faith, loved computers and going to the flea market and Waffle House. He enjoyed life. He is survived by his wife, Libby Walker Harrison of Bessemer City; sons, George Wilson and wife Evelyn and Christopher Harrison both of Bessemer City; daughters, Michelle Eizenger and husband Brian of Clover, SC, Evelyn Garland of Chester, SC, and Dana Harrison of Bessemer City; brother, Randy Harrison and wife Jill of Grover; sister, Linda West and husband Tony of Shelby; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The funeral was conducted by Dr. Harley Michael Keough at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. Interment was at Mountain Rest Cemetery. He was born in Dallas, NC, and moved to Ocala from Kings Mountain in 1975. He was plant manager for Carlton Manufacturing in Ocala. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Ocala and served his country in the Army National Guard. He loved fishing, hunting and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, Scott Carrigan in 1981. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Carrigan; daughter, Tonya Carrigan of Gainesville; son, Darin Carrigan of Ocala; brothers, Jim, Gerald and Buell Carrigan and one sister, Elaine Parker, all of Kings Mountain; and, grandsons, Mitchell and Matthew Carrigan. Funeral services were con- ducted by Dr. Edward Johnson at 3 p.m. Monday, July 28, 2008 at First Baptist. Church. Burial followed at Highland Memorial Park. Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services at 9100 EB. Silver Springs Boulevard, Ocala, was in charge of arrangements. DONALD GREEN KINGS MOUNTAIN - Donald James Green, 79, of 1102 Groves Street, died July 28, 2008 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. He was born October 8, 1928 in Cleveland County to the late Oscar and Ovida Green. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was known well for his guitar play- ing. He was preceded in death by parents, Oscar and Ovida Green; daughter, Pat Passmore; step son, Ronnie Cobb; brothers, Bud, ‘Kenneth, Otis and Opel Green; and, sister, Virginia Grigg. He is survived by his wife, Ann Green; daughters, Laura Mote and husband Jimmy of Kings Mountain, Adam Green and wife Melinda of Grover, Travis Wells and wife Jenny of Kings Mountain, and Larry Green and wife Joann of Kings Mountain; step daughters, Doris Winstead and husband Johnny of Kings Mountain, Pat Alen and husband Don of Kings Mountain, and Christy Wood of Kings Mountain; sisters, Floella Beverly of Kings Mountain and Margaret Neal of Belmont; brother, Randall Green of Antioch, SC; 19 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Herman Green and Paul Grigg at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home Chapel, Bessemer City. Interment was at Mountain Rest Cemetery.
