The: Kings Mountain Herald" September 11, 2008: OBITUARIES LOU ANDERSON KINGS MOUNTAIN - Lou Anderson, 69, of 505 N. Main Street, Grover, died September 5, 2008 at White Oak Manor. She was born in Cleveland County, daughter of the late Homer and Marie McDaniel Harmon. She was pre- ceded in death by her hus- band, Albert Anderson; son, Pat Anderson; and brothers, Joe Harmon and Junior Harmon. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church and, before her illness, was employed by Thermco-Welco of Kings Mountain. She is survived by sons, Robert Anderson and wife Pamela and Charlie Anderson, all of Grover; sister, Lola Morrow of Grover; and grand- children, Jessica Anderson and Ethan Anderson of Grover and Shannon Anderson of Kings Mountain. A graveside service was conducted by the Rev. Dennis Harmon at 4 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2008 at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, where interment followed. EVERETTE GRIGG KINGS MOUNTAIN - Everette Ray Grigg, 74, of 110 Connor Ct., did ed Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cleveland County, son of the late Floyd and Mary Grigg. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, Cindy Grigg Berry and Mary Ann Grigg Long. He was retired from Kings Mountain High School and was a mem- ber of David Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Doris Hope Grigg; and grandsons, Jonathan Berry of Southport, Michael Berry of Charlotte, and Chris Long, David Long and Greg Long, all of Gastonia. A funeral service was con- ducted by the Rev. Bob Hope at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Midview Baptist Church. Interment was at Mountain Rest Cemetery. Baker, 80, of 408 Phifer Road, died Saturday, September 6, 2008 at Carolinas Specialy Hospital, Charlotte. He was born in Mecklenburg County, son of the late Luther Philip Baker .and Mary Tipton Polyette Baker. He was also preceded in death by a son Thomas P. Baker, Jr.; and brothers, Luther Philip Baker, Jr., Dr. Robert N. Baker, and Richard G. Baker. He was a dentist and prac- ticed in Kings Mountain for 34 years. He was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, the Kiwanis Club and was a lifelong member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He attended NC State University, completed undergraduate studies at Lenoir-Rhyne College and graduated from the NC State University School of Dentistry in 1961. He was a loving hus- band, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Beth Hord Baker; sons, Dr. Bryan S. Baker and wife Patricia, Dr. Stephen A. Baker and wife Sandra, David A. Baker, and Jonathan L. Baker and wife Samantha, all of Kings Mountain; sister, Mary Tipton “Peggy” Baker Fulford of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter-in- law, Jackie Summerow Baker of Kings Mountain; sisters-in- law, Ruby Hughes Baker of Kings Mountain and Mary Louise Baker of Waco, Texas; grandchildren, Heather Licayan, Brandon Baker, Caroline Baker, Elizabeth Baker, Sam Baker, Robert Baker, Meredith Baker, Anne Baker, James Parsons, Jonathan Baker, Jacob Baker, Miles Summerow, and Jessie Summerow; and, great grand- child, Mallory Sims. The funeral service was con- ducted by the Revs. Bill Jeffcoat and Dr. John Sloan at 4 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2008 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church. Interment was at Mountain Rest Cemetery. BETTY KYZER - KINGS MOUNTAIN - Betty Mobbs Kyzer, 76, of White Oak Manor, died Sunday, September 7, 2008. She was born in Enola, AR, daughter of the late Larkin and Ottie Mobbs and was pre- ceded in death by three broth- ers and two sisters. She was a member of Friendly’s Chapel, in Maiden, and she attended services at White Oak Manor. She was resident volunteer of the year four years in a row at White Oak Manor. She loved her family, fishing and Bingo. She is survived by daugh- ters, Kay Cloninger and hus- band Scott of Kings Mountain, Cookie Jenkins and husband Billy of Lincolnton, Gail Guyton of Asheboro; eight grandchildren, Jimmy, Sandy, Tammie, @Tammey, Brian, Johnny, Ramona and Windy; 13 great grandchildren, Heather, Kimberly, Adam, Craig, Ashley, Tommy, Haleigh, Lynzie, Four, Hannah, Jackson, Hope and Emma; and two great great grandchildren, Zoeie and Justice. A memorial service was conducted by the Rev. Kathy Payne at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. Dilling Street, died September 8, 2008 at Hospice at Wendover, Shelby. . She was born in Anderson, SC, daughter of the late Pearman and Thelma Fuller. She was wife of the late Ralph Smith. She was also preceded in death by brother and sister- in-law, Doc and Gladys Burton. She was a member of Penley’s Chapel. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. She is survived by daugh- ters, Kim Phillips and hus- band Scott of Kings Mountain and Rita Bridgeman and hus- band Harold of Travelers Rest, SC; sons, Kenneth Smith and Shiela of Kings Mountain and Bill Smith and wife Tammy of Kings Mountain; brother, Roy Fuller of Anderson, SC; sister, Shirley Hoyle of Travelers Rest, SC; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A funeral was conducted by the Rev. Jamie Billings at 3 p.m. Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. Interment was at Mountain = Rest Cemetery. ROGER DAVIS GROVER - Roger Davis, 64, of 203 Hardin Circle, died September 8, 2008 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was a native of Cleveland County, son of the late Worth and Udell Shaw Davis. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brother, James Davis; and mother and step father, Geneva and Andrew Sides. He was retired from the textile industry. He loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by wife, Sylvia Davis of Grover; sons, Kenny Sides and wife Angie of Grover, Dale Davis of Grover, and David Davis of Shelby; daughter, Lisa Bowens of Grover; sisters, Doris Lee and husband Buddy of Shelby, Kathleen Williams of Shelby, and Shiela Lambert and hus- band Dicky of Charlotte; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conduct- ed by the Rev. Allen Davis at 3 p-m. Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Grover Cemetery in Grover.
