Rev. Herman Green and Rev. Roger Green officiated and inter- ment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Born August 25, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Oveda Green of Kings Mountain. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Jesse Grigg and her second hus- band, Arthur V. Beverly; six brothers, Opal, Kenneth, Donald, Oscar “Bud”, and Howard Green and Otis Greene; and one sister, Vir- ginia Grigg. She was a member of Cherokee Street Baptist Church where she played piano. Surviving are three sons, Steve R. Grigg and wife Gloria P. Grigg of Blacks- burg, SC, Jethro “Sonny” Grigg and wife, Rhonda, of Rapid City, S . D., and Rey. Paul Kenneth Grigg and wife, June F. Grigg of Kings Mountain; brother, Randall Green; sister, Margaret Neal; nine grandchildren, Steve Grigg II, Carmen G. Hensley, Julie G. Phillips, Martha G. Braswell at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home Chapel, Bessemer City. The family received visitors prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment was at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery. Edna was a member of a Baptist Church in Troup, Texas and attended Faith Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. She is survived by son, Lester “Tubby” Woodie of Ashland, Va; grandchildren, Ricky Hartsell, Lee Hart- sell, Sheree Carter all of Harrisburg, NC, Rebecca Woody of Marengo, Indi- ana; and daughters-in-law, Esther Hartsell and Rayetta Woody. A na- tive of Cleve- land County, he was the son of the Ria tie Fletcher and Robert B. Georgia Hayes Fletcher. He was husband for 62 years of the late Dorothy Sanders Fletcher. He was also pre- ceded in death by his son, Donnie Fletcher; his brother Jack Fletcher; his sister, Louise Fletcher Daniels and his son-in-law, John McGee. Casper and hus- band Ken of Cleveland, Ga.; and Chad Eric Fletcher of Morganton; great-grand- children: Stephanie, Mel- lisa, Hannah, and Emily Maples, Tyler and Adam Albright, Jaycee Fletcher and Savannah Casper. The funeral service was conducted Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2009 at Ollie Harris Memo- rial Chapel at 3 p.m. by Rev. Robert Pulkkinen. In- terment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Barris Funeral Home SIDNEY HICKS KINGS MOUNTAIN - Sidney William Hicks, 88, of 400 Oak Grove Rd., died January 18, 2009 at White Oak Manor. A na- tive of Cleve- land County, he was the son of 'i'the late Jim and Viola Morris Hicks and was also pre- ceded in death by his wife, Reba Wright Hicks; a daughter, Kathryn Simpson, and brothers,, Albert Lee Hicks and J. M. Hicks. He was a member of Pat- terson Grove Baptist Church for 55 years and served as custodian of the church for 42 years. He was a member of the Beth- ware Progressive Club, es- pecially working with the Bethware Fair. He was a re- tired carpenter. Surviving are his son.
