Kings Mountain High’s
wrestling team snapped back
from their only conference
loss of the season to defeat
Burns 52-18 Friday night at
Parker Gym.
' Anight earlier, the Moun-
taineers lost the last match of
the evening and fell to R-S
Ceritral 42-34 in a battle for
first place.
After picking up a forfeit
for a 6-0 lead, the Moun-
taineers never trailed in their
match with Bums. The
Mountaineers were dominant
in the middle and heavy
weight classes, winning the
last five matches and six of
the last seven.
Winning for the Moun-
taineers were G. Bennett,
Matt Hord, Quincey Toms,
Wesley Bell, Joe Chambers,
Josh Haraszkiewicz, Torrey
Belcher, JT Putnam and Jiris
Toney. Hord, Toms, Bell,
Chambers, Belcher, Putnam
and Toney recorded pins.
“We wrestled well tonight
and I loved the intensity,” said
Coach Kenny Bridges. “I was
glad to see us bounce back
from the disappointing loss to
R-S Central. We have some
guys really getting better. I
have some really young guys
with opportunities to really do
well in the conference tourna-
ment.”
Winners against R-S
Wednesday night were Ty
Schulte, Steven Byrd, Matt
Hord, John Robbs, Torrey
Belcher and Jiris Toney.
“It was a very disappoint-
ing loss,” Bridges said. “I felt
we let a few matches slip
away that we could have
won. We had a chance to re-
ally set ourselves up nice, but
we let this one slip away. For
us to have a chance to win the
conference we now have to
depend on some help from
Shelby.”
Shelby, which lost to KM
in the first conference match,
