Page 2A The Kings Mountain Herald Wednesday, February 11, 2009 1 Kingstown officer charged with assault Church Briefs Kingstown Chief of Police + Richard Junior Hopper, 40, of 108 Jeremy Drive, was charged Tuesday, Feb. 10, with assault by strangulation, assault on a female and first degree kidnapping of a juve- nile. Det. Cpl. Doug Shockley said Hopper turned himself'in at the Cleveland County Law Enforcement Center after a report was filed at the Kings Mountain Police Department by a family member alleging she was assaulted. After a full investigation and in conjunction with the District Attorney’s Office, charges/warrants were se- cured, said Shockley in a press release. He said the name of the victim is being withheld due to age. Hopper was given a $5,000 secured bond at which time he met with a bondsman and was released on his own recognizance.
