The funeral will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 2 p.m. at South Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Wit- nesses, 2250 Davis Park Road, Gastonia. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. ATHLENE HICKS KINGS MOUNTAIN — Athlene Grayson Hicks died March 6, 2009 at Belaire Health Center, Gastonia. Funeral service was Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 3 p.m. at First Baptist Church 0 f Clover, SC, with ; the Rev. Mike Stafford officiating. Interment was in Bethany ARP Church Cemetery. Mrs. Hicks was the daughter of the late May- nard and Bertha D. Grayson. She was the widow of John McCoig and John Hicks. A daughter, Dana Grayson Rogers, also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Hicks was the first female to step foot on the floor of the Wall Street Stock Ex- change. Survivors are a Son, De- Vere Rogers Smith Jr. of " Monroe; brother, Webster Grayson of Bennettsville, SC and grandchildren, Steven Rogers of Greenville, SC, James Rogers of Greenville, NC and Chelsie Smith of Mon- roe. Goforth St., died ‘March 2, 2009 at Kings Mountain Hospital. Born in Chisholm, MN, he was the son of the late Harry and Tekla Pouchak. Mr. Pouchak and his wife, Anne, were married on No- vember 10, 1951 in St. Mary’s Orthodox Cathedral in Minneapolis, MN and moved to King Mountain in 1960. After re- tirement he built Poston Products, Brunswick, GA, which he owned and operated for 10 | years. A decorated World War II veteran, he served in the United States Army, Pat- ton’s 3" Army 26" Infantry Division, 101%Regiment. An expert rifleman, he was among the first troops to go directly from New York to France after D Day. He was wounded in action and re- ceived the Purple Heart. H also served in Germany, Austria and Czechoslova- "kia. Mr. Pouchak and his wife loved the outdoors and enjoyed traveling and visit- ing their family and rural cabin in Minnesota. He was active as a Boy Scout leader and a founding member of The Nativity of the Holy Virgin Orthodox Church, Charlotte. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Anne Pouchak of the home; sons, Paul Pouchak of Shelby, Jason Pouchak of Orarige, CA and Hilary Pouchak of Carlsbad, CA. Greene Funeral Serbice Robert Neill, Sr. Robert Harrison “Bob” Neill Sr., 80, devoted hus- band of Betty Elliott Neill, was received into the pre- cious arms of Jesus early Friday morn- f ary 27, 2009 at | his resi- {i dence. H was born November 4, 1928 in Charlotte, son of the late Buren Shuford and Elizabeth McComb Neill and was raised in Kings Mountain, NC. Mr. Neill was inducted into the Kings Mountain High School Hall of Fame in 1993 as a mem- ber of the 1945 Boys Bas- ketball Team, and was selected as a member of the All Time Kings Mountain High School Football Team in 1971. In 2005, Bob was also inducted into. the Gallery of Distinguished Graduates at Gardner Webb University where he played football and met the love of his life, his wife Betty. He began his real estate development career in 1961 with Lat Purser and Associ- ates, where he rose to the position of Vice Chairman. In 1980, he started his own company, Bob Neill & As- sociates which he ran until his retirement in 2004. Bob was a charter member and Elder of New Life Church of Charlotte and was a for- mer member of St. Paul United Methodist Church © where he taught the Great Expectations Sunday School Class for many years. He was a shining exam- ple of a devoted Christian Police Report and was known as a man who “walked the walk” of his faith. “Well done my good and faithful servant. You lived life well”.
