The Kings Mountain Herald Records Wednesday, April 1, 2009 Obituaries David McGuirt CONCORD - David Leon McGuirt, age 67, of Concord, died Sunday, March 29, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family. {Mr | McGuirt was em- ployed | by a welding supply company in Sales and Man- agement. Mr. McGuirt was a member of The NRA. Mr. McGuirt was born on October 9, 1941 in Mecklen- burg. County to the late Ben- jamin McGuirt and the late Lula Bell (Manus) McGuirt. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Louise Barrett; brother, Benny McGuirt; and nephew, Harold Abernathy. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Williams) McGuirt; of Concord; daughter, Teresa (McGuirt) Shue and husband David of Concord; daughter, Lynda (McGuirt) Greene and husband Chuck of Goodview, Va.; son, David B. McGuirt and wife Janet of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Jennifer Nicole Shue, Kiersten Elizabeth MecGuirt, and Lyndsay Nicole Greene; two great grandchil- dren; sister, Peggy Abernathy and - husband Dan of New London, NC; and many loved nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009. Hartel JFuneral Home James Cook KINGS MOUNTAIN — James Thomas (Tom) Cook, 57, died March 27, 2009 at his home. : A native of Jackson County, NC, he was the son of the late Annie Ruth Powell. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie C. Ballard. He was a Nuclear Mainte- nance Technician for Duke Energy stationed at the Catawba Nuclear Plant and also worked at other nurherous nuclear plants. A veteran of the “United States Army, he served in Germany and Vietnam. He attended Ashley High School in Gastonia, loved fishing and boating. He loved his fam- ily and espe - cially spending 1 i: mie with his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Susan H. Cook of Kings Mountain; son, James T. Parris Funeral Home Margie Wright KINGS MOUNTAIN — Margie Greene Wright, 85, of 1003 Sherwood Lane, died March 29, 2009 at White Oak Manor. A native of Marion, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Tillman and Mary Margaret Loudermilk Greene and wife of the late Forest William Wright. She was also preceded in death by her son, Phillip T. Wright, sister, Gail Miller, and brothers, Jack and Harold Greene. A member of Eastside Baptist Church, she was re- tiredg from the textile in- dustry | and a} seam- | stress. She was a loving and Godly mother, grand- mother and great-grandmother who always had a smile on her face and a friend to everyone she met. She was very active in all the activities at White Oak Manor in Kings Moun- tain. Surviving are sons, Wayne Wright and Robin Wright, both of Cortez, CO and Ted Wright and wife, Chris, of Asheville; daughter, Lorraine Norris and husband, Jim, of Kings Mountain; brothers, Joe Greene and wife, Kathy, and Arlis Greene and wife, Jessee, all of Morganton; sisters, Jewel Houke, Johnsie Chatham and Ozelle Sotello and husband, Art, all of Mor- ganton; five grandchildren, Erin Wilson and husband, Jeff; Lance Norris and wife, Sarah; Daniel Wright and wife, Mariah; Andrew Wright and Anissa Wright; and four great- grandchildren: Olivia Wilson, Kathryn Norris, Kaden Wright and Elijah Wright. MARCH 18: A 1991 Olds op- erated by Bobby Jenkins of El- lenboro backed into a 2006 Chrysler operated by Stephanie Rikard of 203 Pinehurst Dr. in the parking lot of Dollar Gen- eral. Officer Stephen Skinner es- timated damages at $1100. MARCH 18: A2007 Kia oper- ated by Joyce Knight of Besse- mer City rear-ended a 1998 GMC operated by Rodney Short, 114 Center St., as Short was turning into Hardee’s. Offi- cer Kenneth L. Hamrick esti- mated damages at $2500. MARCH 18: A Hendersonville driver was injured after her car left the roadway on 1-85 at 161 and Dixon School Road. Tammy Page told officer Ken- neth L. Hamrick that a transfer truck came into her lane causing her to leave the roadway on the left shoulder, the car struck a guardrail in’ the medium and traveled back across both lanes. Estimated damages were $15,000, MARCH 20: Ptl. S.C. Bridges said that a 2003 Ford operated by Jacob Waters, 131 Crown Court, ran the light at King and Piedmont Avenue and struck a 1993 Chevy operated by Jere- miah Crump of 208 Green Meadow Drive. Damages were estimated at $2500. MARCH 20: Thomas Deviney, 1061 Bamett Dr., was backing a 2003 Mitsubishi from a parking space at Bojangles and struck a 1996 Ford operated by Jacob Kenneth Metcalf, 602 York Road. Cpl. Mark Butler esti- mated damages at $700 to the Metcalf car. MARCH 21: Ptl. B.L.Wilkin- son cited Indravadon Patel of Cherryville for failure to operate headlamps after the 2005 Toy- otahe was driving struck a vehi- cle operated by Johnnie Lee Herron, 219 Parrish Drive. MARCH 27: Police reported thata 16-year-old student caused adisturbance on a school bus by an assault with fists. The student was cited with assault. MARCH 28: A resident of Cen- ter Street reported a break-in by someone breaking a sliding glass door and taking items from the house. MARCH 28: A resident of Castlerock Rd. reported a break- in, damage to property and theft of a microwave and Butcher Block wood table. MARCH 29: A resident of S. Juniper St. reported vandalism * to outside walls of her residence and theft of copper tubing. WRECKS MARCH 26: Cpl. Mark Butler said that Teresa Toney, 1543 N. Piedmont Ave., was treated for injuries after the car she was driving ran into a ditch on Waco Road and overturned. The 2004 Suzuki was damaged $5,000. MARCH 26: A 2004 Ford op- erated by Thomas B. Hawkins, 905 Woodside Dr, struck 22008 Kia operated by Jack Martin, 128 Center St, in the Kings Mountain Post Office parking lot doing $500 damage. MARCH 27: Cpl. DK. Davis said that a vehicle operated by Jerry Llewellyn, 712 McDaniel Rd., pulling a trailer into the Shell station on King Street, was struck by a 1990 Pontiac oper- ated by Elizabeth Reynolds, 198 Sun Ct., doing a total of $2000 damage. Reynolds said she swerved to try to miss the trailer in the roadway. MARCH 27: Officer Bryan King cited Lonnie Jack King Jr., 128-7 Autumn Woods, with driving while license revoked and unsafe movement after his 2003 Hyundai collided with a 1994 Nissan operated by Fred- erick Jackson, 810 Church St., onNC 161 as King was making a left turn off the US 74 off ramp.
