Bible Bee

Over. $260,000 in
Prize Money for 2009
Inaugural Competition
The Shelby Kennedy
Foundation is excited to in-
troduce the first annual Na-
tional = Bible Bee, a
motivating Bible memory
competition for children
and youth from 7 to 18
years of age.
The goal of the Bible
Bee is to build godly char-
acter in young people by
calling them back to the lost
discipline of Scripture
memorization.
Local Bible Bee Con-
tests. will be conducted
throughout the United
States on Saturday, Sept.
12, 2009. One hundred fi-
nalists from each of three
age categories will then ad-
vance to the National Bible
Bee for a two-day, world-
class competition which
will be held in Washington
D.C. on Nov. 5-6, 2009.
Harvest Church, 707
Lithia Inn Road, Lincol-
nton, will be hosting a local
contest on Sept. 12, 2009.

Official enrollment in
the Bible Bee began Feb. 15
and is handled online at
www.biblebee.org
An associated enroll-
ment fee of $20 is collected *
to help cover the adminis-
trative costs associated with
the National Contest. There
is a reduced fee scale for
families with multiple con-
testants. Enrollment closes
on April 30.
The Bible Bee Competi-
tion will distribute more*
than $260,000 in prize
money with $100,000 being
awarded to the first-place
winner. of the top age
bracket.

and hotdogs and home-
made bake goods will be
available. The public is in-
vited.

supper Saturday, April 25,
from 6-7:30 p.m. for bene-
fit of Relay for Life. Sug-
gested donations are $5 for
adults and children’s plates
$3. Salad, spaghetti, bread,
dessert and drink are in-
cluded. “Lookin Up,’ the
Jazz combo of Boyce Me-
morial, will provide famil-
iar sacred and popular
music during the evening.
