Page 2A RECORDS The Kings Mountain Herald Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Obituaries Dorus Bennett KINGS MOUNTAIN - Dorus L. Bennett, 84, of 708 Hillside Dr., died May 7, 2009 at Kings Mountain Hospital. Born in Cleveland County, he was Ann Wright Bennett. He was also preceded in death by his brother, James L. Bennett and sister, Louise Smith. From 1948-59 he was manager of C. T. Bennett Construction Company and from 1959-1982 he was President and General Man- ager of Bennett Brick & Tile, Kings Mountain. He was the retired Superintend- ent of Mountain Rest Cemetery, where he de- voted his life to serving the citizens of Kings Mountain. Mr. Bennett was a char- ter member of Resurrection . Lutheran Church where he served as former Sunday School = Superintendent, Treasurer, on the Church Council, call committee and building committee. He graduated from King Mountain High School and Lenoir-Rhyne College. He served in the United States Army during World War II at the Fitzsimmons Army Hospital, Aurora, Co. He was a member of the Fairview Masonic Lodge where he was a Mason and Shriner. He was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Maxine Hord Bennett of the home; son, Mike Bennett and wife, Karla, of Kings Mountain; daughters, Mary Anne Gib- son and husband, Gene “Gib” Gibson, of Kings Mountain, and Carol Talley and husband, Brent Talley, of Hickory; five grandchil- dren: Alan Gibson of Hick- ory, Drew Gibson of Raleigh, Christopher Ben- eN 40 T EITE 14K Gold Diamond Set 48 CARAT T.W. Warren St., died May 10, 2009 at White Oak Manor in Kings Moun- Police Report tain. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daugh- ter of the late Ambrose Jessie and Willie Bell Mc- Farland Odom. She was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother who loved gardening. The funeral will be con- ducted Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11 am. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel.
