Page 2A RECORDS The Kings Mountain Herald Wednesday, May 20, 2009 Obituaries Bobby Bridges KINGS MOUNTAIN - Bobby Ray Bridges, 78, of 824 Cleveland Ave., ‘died May 16, 2009 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby. A native of Cleveland Ruth Bobbitt Bridges. He owned and op- erated Bridges Textiles of Kings Mountain for 25 years. He also was a consult- ant with Burlington Indus- tries. ! A member of Second Baptist Church, he was a member, of Fairview Ma- sohic Lodge 339 and the White Plains Shrine Club. He was a loving husband, fa- ther and grandfather. Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Norma Falls Bridges of the home; sons, Ken Bridges and wife, Cathy, and Wayne Bridges and wife, Dianna, all of Kings Mountain; daughter, Kim Bridges and husband, Royce of Kings Mountain; sisters, Margaret Rayfield and husband, Jack, and Betty Connor and husband, Don, all of Kings Mountain, and Carol Gantt of Houston, Tx; eight grandchildren: Becky Hunt and husband Sam, . Kenny Bridges and wife, Charity; Laura Bridges, Jason Bridges and fiance Lauren Sochacki, Matthew _Bridges,. Kelly Peeler and special friend, Chris Patrick; Emily Peeler, all of Kings Mountain, Senior Airman Brandon Bridges and wife, Katelyn, USAF, Washington, DC, and great-grandchildren, Hallie Hunt, Olivia Hunt and ‘Sara Kate Bridges. The funeral service was conducted Monday, May 18, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Second Baptist Church. Rev. James Lochridge and Rev. John Bridges officiated and inter- ment was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Harris JFuneral Home Norma Guyton SOUTHPORT - Norma Mayhew Guyton of South- port, formerly of Kings Mountain, died Sunday, May 17, 2009. A native of Davidson, NC., she was the daughter of the late Roscoe Banks and Autilla Belle Mayhew and was preceded in death by her husband, Otto Guyton, daughter, Priscilla Melton, grandson, Todd Melton, brothers, Bob, Jimmy and R. B. Mayhew and sister, June Yarborough. Surviving are her son, Banks Guyton and his wife Harriet of Southport; son-in- law, Harry Melton of Bel- mont, grandson, Chip Melton and wife, Debbie of Cramerton, granddaughter, . Lisa Kjome and husband, Dave of Southport; grand- son, John Guyton and wife Tiffany of Sugar Grove, Illi- nois; great-granddaughters, Abby and Ashley Kjome and Hayley, Tori and Paige Guy- ton and great-great grand- sons, Brett Wackerhagen and Samuel Tomlinson III. Also surviving are her sisters, Pat Tate of Denver and Judy Mayhew of Wilmington and sisters-in-law, Jean Mayhew and Eleanor Mayhew of Wilmington and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside funeral will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain. The family will be at the home of Chip and Debbie Melton, 3006 Dodsworth Drive, Cramer- ton, NC. Parris Jfuneral Home Lillie Jackson KINGS MOUNTAIN - . Lillie Sellers Jackson, 92, of 918 Possum Trot Rd. Blacksburg, SC, formerly of Kings Mountain, died May 16, 2009 at her home. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daugh- ter of the late William “Buddy” and Frances Hayes Sellers. In addition to her parents, she was also pre- ceded in- death by her hus- band, Delbert Jackson; brothers, Lee Sellers and George Sellers; and sisters, Nancy Smith, Annie Mae Alexander and Lib Sellers. She was a homemaker and the senior member of Dixon Presbyterian Church. She was a great mother and grandmother. “Surviving are her daugh- ters, Lois Jackson Love of Blacksburg, SC, Brenda Jackson Hudson of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Vickie Jackson Leigh and husband, Steve, of Kings Mountain; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The funeral service was conducted Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Dixon Pres- byterian Church of Kings Mountain. Rev. Vernon Craig and Rev. Parris Jfuneral Home Adelle Mihu STRONGSVILLE, OHIO - Adelle Mihu, 86, re- siding with her daughter in Kings Mountain, NC, for- merly of 17224 Albion Road, Strongsville, OH, went home to be with the Lord on May 11, 2009 at Wen- dover Hospice, Shelby. A na- tive of Cleve- Land’, Ohio, she was the wife of the late Joseph Mihu and she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Frank and Max Gudowski. She was owner/operator of Evergreen -Stables, Strongsville, OH for over 45 years. She was an avid horse enthusiast, riding instructor, and ran a success- ful horse boarding facility. She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her entire family. She was of the Catholic faith and took pride in being a registered nurse. Surviving are her sons, Christopher Mihu and Rose and their children, Laurel, Ryan and Kaitlin of Indiana; Jeffrey Mihu and Jeanne Hejny of Strongsville, OH; Dennis Mihu and Sandy and their children, Corey, Kevin, Stephanie and Katelynn of Columbia Station, OH; and Scott Mihu and Christina and their children, Nicholas and Josh of Hinckley, OH; daughters, Joanne Malusky and Jack and their children, Jill Malusky Bacon and Sam and Jamie Malusky and Tyler of Homerville, OH, Sandra Mihu, RSM, CA,, and Dorene Parker and Eddie and their children, Kristen Parker and Jesse and McKenzie Parker of Kings Mountain, NC; Also surviv- ing is her sister-in-law, Layv- . erne Gudowski of Charlotte, NC. ae Private services will be arranged at a later date in Ohio. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Doris Medford Leigh and was married to Pam Crabtree Leigh for 33 years. He was A public school teacher for 30 years, he coached at South West Junior High School Bessemer City High, Pisgah High, Kings Moun- tain High, East Gaston High and West Lincoln High Schools. He was the Assis- tant Football Coach at Kings Mountain High School when the Mountaineers went to the playoffs in 1999. He served in the United States Navy. He was a loving husband, fa- ther and grandfather. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are their son, An- . drew Leigh and his wife Mandy of Dallas; daughter, Ashley Leigh, of Kings Mountain; his parents, Bill and Betty Leigh of Shelby; his sister, Linda Leigh Smith of Dallas; and his grand- daughter, Morgan.
