Barth, age 78, was wel-
comed into the arms of Jesus
February 23, 2009 at Scripps
Mercy Hospital, in San
Diego, California.
A graveside Memorial
Service will be held Satur-
day, May 30, 2009, at 1 p.m.,
Kings Mountain Rest Ceme-
tery at the Pinkney D.
Roberts’ grave site.
Mrs. Donnie Vee R. Barth
was preceded in death by her
husbands, Ralph Lee Miller,
and Robert Lewis Barth; par-
ents, Pinkney D. and Lois
(Falls) Roberts; sisters, Edith
Evelyn R. Henderson, Ethel
Lucille R. Dover, and Is-
abelle R. Odom; and broth-
ers, Pinkney D. Roberts, Jr.
and David Brooks Roberts.
Mrs. Barth is survived by
sons, Daniel Lee Miller of
San Diego, Calif, and
Wayne Joseph Miller and
wife, Lucille (Luci) of
Shelby; daughter, Laura Sue
Buchanan of Shelby; brother,
Edward Anthony Roberts of
York, SC; sister, Virginia
(Ginny) R. Frederick of
Greensboro, NC; grandchil-
dren, Eric Benjamin Miller,
Andrew Donald Allen, Toni
Lea Shook and Philip
Dwayne Allen; great grand-
children, Ashley Elizabeth
Allen, Mary Mikayla Allen,
Noah Joseph Allen, Hannah
Grace Allen and Hope Leann
Allen; along with many
nephews and nieces.
Our deepest appreciation
is extended to the staff, doc-
tors, and nurses of Scripps
Mercy Hospital for the lov-
ing care and concern they
provided.
Family and friends will
gather at the entrance of the
cemetery and will proceed to
the grave site where the
ashes of Mrs. Donnie V.
Roberts Barth will be placed,
in her mother’s grave. She
came from her mom and
now is returning to her. She
will be greatly missed.

“Put” Putnam, 83, of 3108
Ramseur Church. Rd.
Shelby, died May 23, 2009 at
home.
He was born in Cleveland
County to the late Clyde
Earnest and Katie Owens
Putnam. He was also pre-
ceded in death by sons,
Ricky Eugene Putnam and
Johnny Randolph Putnam,
three grandchildren, one
great-grandson, two brothers
and four sisters.
Retired from Kings
Mountain Hospital, he was a
member of Corinth Primitive
Baptist Church for 20 years.
He loved to farm and oper-
ated a booth at the farmer’s
market. .
Surviving are his wife of
62 years, Ruth Goins Putnam
of the home; sons, Charles
K. Putnam and wife, Mar-
garet, of Shelby and Randy
K. Putnam and wife, Denise
Goodman of Shelby; daugh-
ters, Debbie A. Blanton and
husband, Ricky D. of Cliff-
side and Terry Merck and fi-
ance Steven Byars of Shelby;
14 grandchildren; 27 great-
grandchildren, five great-.
great grandchildren and five
great-great-great grandchil-
dren.
The funeral service was
- conducted Tuesday, May 26,
«2009 at 2 p.m. at Second
Baptist Church. Elder Romie
Williams officiated and in-
terment was in Mountain
Rest Cemetery.

Mr. Moss was a native of
Cleveland County, served in
the US Navy during World
War II and retired from the
Savannah River Plant after
35 years of service. He at-
tended North Augusta Bible
Chapel and was known for
his many vocal accomplish-
ments and love of music. He
was preceded in death by his
wife, Dorothy Montjoy
Moss and his parents,
Theodore Edward and Pearle
Elizabeth Huffstetler Moss.
Surviving are his wife,
Margaret Moss of the home;
three daughters and sons-in-
law: Karen and Randy
Weigel of North Augusta,
SC, Susan and Scott Hyer of
-Jackson, SC and Evelyn and
Billy Usry of Augusta, Ga.

fore beginning his career at
Foote Mineral, he appren-
ticed as an electrician with
Hoke Electric Company,
wiring numerous homes in
and around Cleveland and
Gaston Counties. He was
also a retired Volunteer Fire-
man for over 35 years with
the Kings Mountain Fire De-
partment. ‘

60 years, he was a former
deacon, served on the build-.
