DR. BILL AMOS
- PHOENIX, ARIZONA -
Dr. William E. (Bill) Amos,
78, died July 1, 2009 at
home.
A native of Kings Moun-
tain, he was born June 28,
1931 to the late MC and
Bertie Amos.
A graduate of Wake
Forest College and Bow-
man Gray School of Medi-
cine in Winston-Salem; he
completed his" internship
and Dermatology residency
at Walter Reed Army Hos-
pital.
Amos was Chief of Der-
matology at the 130th Sta-
tion Hospital in Heidelberg,
Germany for three years. In
1964 he began Dermatol-
ogy practice in Phoenix at
the Park Central Medical
Building, retiring from ac-
tive practice in 1995.
Bill was a very giving
* husband, father, grandfather
and uncle. :
Surviving are his wife,
Ruth; their two daughters,
Laura Murphry and Audrey
Ozols; granddaughters, Jen-
nifer and Heather Larsen
and Annika and Abigail
, Ozols; niece, Suzanne
Amos, nephew, Jim Amos,
son-in-law, Art Ozols and
daughter- in- law, Lisa Pike.
Private services have
been held.

lotte. She was born June 7,
1949 in Kings Mountain to

“Tootie” was a home-

Calvary Baptist Church,
Kingston.
She is ‘survived by her
husband, Lewis “Red”

and Rickey Dale Donaldson

Mountain; daughters,

The funeral was con-
ducted by the Revs. Dennis
Harmon and Chad Irvin at 2
p.m. Monday at Sisk-Butler
Funeral Home, Bessemer
City. Interment was at
Mountain Rest Cemetery.

Mildred. T. Keene, M.D.,
82, of Skyland Drive, Mor-
ganton, died Tuesday, June
30,2009 at Grace Hospital.
Born in Lake Butler, Fla.,
on Janu-

She was of the Methodist
faith.
Following her gradua-
tion from the University of
Tennessee, she joined the
U.S. Air Force from which
she retired as a lieutenant
colonel. She was active in
politics, prompting her to be
one of the first women to
run for congress and the
U.S. senate.
Dr. Keene received nu-
merous prestigious awards,
including the Long Leaf
Pine and the Korean Na--
tional Defense Medal, pre-
sented by the United
Daughters of American
Confederates.
She held medical li-
censes in psychiatry, den-
tistry, and emergency
medicine. She was the di-
rector of Mental Health in
Fulton County, Atlanta, Ga.,
and later joined the Char-
lotte Psychiatric Associates.
For several years she prac-
ticed emergency medicine
at Kings Mountain Hospi-
tal. She relocated to Mor-
ganton- where she practiced
psychiatry until her retire-
ment. She continued to
work locum tenems until
her death. ;
In addition to her par-
ents, she was preceded in
death by a brothér, John
Richard Keene; and sisters,
Mary Lee Keene Johnson,
Evelyn Strickland, and
Eleanor Kieloboski.
Dr. Keene is survived by
a brother, Wayne Pearce
and. | wife,’ Hazel, of
Gainesville, Fla.; a sister,
‘Bonnie Parker and husband,
Glen, of Gainesville; a spe-
cial cousin, Gerry Vaughn
of Bunnell, Fla.; a special
niece, Mary K. Sumner of
Jacksonville, Fla.; a special
nephew, Joshua C. Shelton;
and other nieces and
nephews.
The family received
friends on Saturday, July 4,
2009 from 9-9:30 a.m. at
Sossoman Funeral Home in
Morganton.
A graveside service was
held at 10 a.m. Saturday at
Burke Memorial Park with
Gerry Vaughn officiating.

years, he was President of
the South Atlantic League
of Professional Baseball
Clubs for 50 years and a
member of St. Matthew's
Lutheran Church. He was a
World War II veteran of the
US Army.
Mayor Rock Murphrey
has ordered that all flags in
the City of Kings Mountain
fly at half mast in honor and
in memory of Mayor John
Henry Moss.
Surviving are a number
of nieces and nephews.

was held Monday, July 6,
2009 at 11 a.m. at First Bap-

tigation into the death of
Andrew Bunch, 21, and
have ruled the accident un-
avoidable. :
Bunch was struck by a
car operated by. Sharon
Krummow Murry early
Saturday, June 20, 2009 on
the Kings Mountain Bypass -
at the Oak Grove exit.
Murry told police she
thought she had hit a deer in
the roadway.
No charges will be filed,
