The funeral service was conducted Monday, August 17, 2009 at 2 p.m. Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel in Kings Mountain, interment following in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Rev. Odell Cook officiated. Violet Dixon KINGS MOUNTAIN - Violet Laughter Dixon, 86, formerly of Kings Moun- tain, died Aug. 12: 2009. Born in = Cleveland County, she was the daugh- ter of the late Christopher Columbus Laughter and Cora Hull Laughter. She was wife of the late Marion Dixon and was also pre- ceded in death by several brothers . and sis- ters. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was formerly employed by the Employment Security Com- mission in Shelby and Kings Mountain. Surviving are her daugh- ters, Sheila Dixon Oliver and husband, Jimmy, of Charlotte, and Elaine Dixon Powell and husband, Jay of Helendale, CA; her brother, Clyde Laughter of Florida; four grandchildren: Stephanie Pilgrim and hus- band Owen and Shannon Eagle and husband, Shawn, of San Diego, CA, Jessica Oliver of Charlotte and Stacy Oliver Craig ad hus- band, Patrick, of Charlotte; and three great-grandchil- dren, Savannah and Sadie Eagle and Sydney Pilgrim. The memorial service was conducted Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009 at First Bap- . tist Church of Kings Moun- tain at 3 p.m. Her pastor, Dr. John Sloan officiated. Rev. He joined the Air Force and was commis- sioned a Second Lieutenant 4 April 5, 1956. Col. Painter had a BS in Aerospace En- ginering degree and and MS in Jet Propulsion Engineer- ing. He graduated with top honors as a Distinguished Graduate and was a mem- ber of Tau Beta Pi, the engi- neering honor society. He flew in the B-47, B- 52, B-57 and served in Viet Nam in the AC119. After 12 years of flying, he enjoyed 14 more years utilizing his engineering skills on the F15 and F16 as Director of Engine Propulsion develop- ment. He served in the USAF for 26 years and continued in aerospace in civilian life for 15 more years with Gen- eral Dynamics as Director of. GLCM and Tomahawk Cruise Missile Systems. He is survived by his loving wife Teddi and sons Robert and Charles II. Auditions for ‘Charlotte’s Web’ begin Aug. 29 at Joy “Charlotte’s Web”, the de- lightful children’s story about a pig named Wilbur who is saved from slaughter by an intelligent spider named Charlotte, will be brought to life on the stage of the Joy Theatre this fall. This Kings Mountain LLit- tle Theatre production will be directed by Susan Champion.
