Dallas. He was born on July

God. He loved the Atlanta
Braves, he previously
played on the Mud Cats
softball team for the textiles
and he enjoyed bowling and
being with his grandchil-
dren.

Monday, August 31, 2009
from 6:30-7:30 p.m. and a
service to celebrate his life
followed at 7:30 p.m. in the
chapel at Greene Funeral
Service, South, with the
Rev. Mike White and Rey.

Frances Summers
CHARLOTTE - Frances
Margaret Summers, 801 of
1030 Edgehill Rd., died Au-
gust 28, 2009 at Carolinas
Medical Center in Char-
lotte.
A native of Kings Moun-
tain, she was born Decem-
ber 22, 1928 to the late
Frank Rickert Summers and
Bonnie Mauney Summers.
She was also preceded in
death by her sister, Virginia
Summers Hinnant.
A graduate of Marion
College, Marion, Va. and
Salem College in Winston-
Salem with a degree in
Music and Voice, she at-
tended graduate school at
the University of Texas,
Austin, studying Music and
Voice.
She was a member of St.
Mark’s Lutheran Church of
Charlotte for more than 56
years and was a member of
the choir and soloist. After
retiring from First Union
National Bank, now Wa-
chovia, and Andrews Music
Company, she worked as a
volunteer for many years at
St. Mark’s handling admin-
istrative tasks for the office.
She loved animals, espe-
cially dogs. She was an ac-
tive volunteer for the
Charlotte Humane Society
and was a member of the
Charlotte Oratorio Singers
and a Red Cross volunteer.
Surviving are her
brother, Frank A. Summers
and wife, Claire R. Sum-
mers, of Marietta, Ga.

of Hilton Head, SC and Vir-
ginia C. Summers of Mari-
etta, Ga. and nephews,

Sizemore
‘not guilty’
in sex trial
A Cleveland County jury
found G. L. Sizemore, 49,
not guilty August 20 of two
counts of indecent liberties
with a child, first degree
rape of a child, first degree
sex offense in a parental
role and failure to appear on
those charges.
During the time of the
alleged abuse of the ac-'
cuser, Sizemore lived in the
same home in Kings Moun-
tain.
Superior Court Judge
James Morgan was on the
bench.

tip leads feds
to search here
An anonymous tip from
a TV. profile on “America’s
Most Wanted” led US Mar-
shals to Kings Mountain
August 23 in the search for
missing Georgia woman

boyfriend on the telephone

of the Kings Mountain Po-
lice Department said that
Cleveland County authori-,
ties led by Dewey Cook, the
county’s Director of Emer-
gency Management, cov-
ered an area a mile from US
74 West near the Moss Lake
Exit.
Dogs were brought in
from Western N. C. Search
and Rescue to conduct a
two day search which
proved unproductive.
In an unrelated incident,
dogs were again brought
into the area to search a por-
tion of the new Gateway
Trails after a caller reported
a woman screaming. The
dogs searched for two hours
last Thursday in a search
coordinated by Dewey
Cook and Emergency Man-
agement.
Marijuana
found in KM
back yard
Cleveland County Sher-
iff’s Department located a
marijuana plant growing in
a backyard of Fairdale
Drive in the Midpines Com-
munity Monday morning.
Sgt. Chris Hutchins, of
the Narcotics Division, said
that the plant was discov-
ered by Fire Marshals
called to the area to investi-
gate complaints of illegal
burning. Assistant Fire Mar-
shal Perry Davis said
household garbage was
found burning.
No charges have been
preferred pending futher in-
vestigation.
$50 reward offered
for aid in finding
missing mower
A family is offering a
$50 reward for information
that will help lead to the
conviction of the person or
persons who stole their Red
Craftsman GT 5000 lawn-
mower.
The mower, which in-
cluded a three bag bagger,
was snatched from the fam-
ily’s backyard in Kings
Mountain recently. Family
members say it would be
easy for them to identify.
