Wednesday, September 2, 2009 New variety store open By EMILY WEAVER Editor Amidst the new "internet cafes", ‘offering faxes, copies, web access and games, that have popped up , along Grover's Main Street over the past few months is a new kind of "general" store. K.C.'s Discount & Vari- ety offers a regular smor- gasbord of merchandise from apparel to lawn equip- ment. The shop, which opened in April, offers a consign- ment corner and shelves upon shelves of other mer- chandise, including such items as toys, bicycles and luggage. Cheryll Pressley, who owns and operates the store with her husband, said that they also have some back- to-school items on their shelves. : K.C.'s may soon also carry bait and tackle. "People that come in this store are really surprised with what we have," she added. EUGENE PATTERSON Pattersons celebrate 69 years of marriage Eugene and Jeanette Patterson of Kings Mountain cele- brated their 69th wedding anniversary with family and friends Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Patterson were married September 1, 1940 at Bethlehem Baptist Church. They are the parents of Dr. Jerry Patterson and wife Kim, of Chapel Hill, and Dennis E. Patterson and wife Susan, of Kings Mountain. They have four grandsons and four great grandchildren. Price turns 6 tember 26, 2009 in Lake Lure. CHRISTOPHER HOPF STACEY SPICER Zachary Price, son of Tommy and Audra Price of Kings Moun- tain, turned six years ‘old on July 27th. He celebrated with a Power Rangers Jun- gle theme party. Twenty-seven family members and friends enjoyed a jun- gle-theme birthday cake, ice cream, snacks and red, blue and green punch. They played in swim- ming pools, on a water slide and an in- flatable water park. They also enjoyed | bubbles, jump ropes, hula hoops and fin- ished up the party with a shark pinata.
