Page 6A Church briefs... Bethea United Methodist Church, 605 E. Maryland Ave., Bessemer City, has planned two special Fall events, ; Sunday, Sept. 27. a Fran Service will feature the 11 a.m. worship . service and members will be inviting friends, relatives, acquain- tances and neighbors to the service and covered dish fel- lowship which follows. On Saturday, Oct. 3, from 2-4 p.m. a Bless the Animals service will be held and mem- bers and guests will take their animals to church for a bless- ing. Afterwards, critter and human snacks will be served in the fellowship hall. Homecoming Day is Sunday, Sept. 20, at 3 p.m. at Bynum. Chapel AME Zion Church in Kings Mountain and Rev. William M. Jordan, pastor of Rockwell AME Zion Church of Charlotte will de- liver the sermon, accompanied by members of his choir and congregation. The public is in- vited: : Revival services will begin Wednesday, Sept. 23, and con- tinue through Friday, Sept. 25, at7 p.m. nightly. Rev. Carolyn Bratton, pastor of Moore's Chapel AME Zion Church of Salisbury is evangelist. Rev. Sylvia Y. Perry, pas- tor, invites the community to participate in the special serv- ices. Mary’s Grove United Methodist Church will hold Homecoming Day Sunday, Sept. 20. The new pastor, Rev. Charlerte Hutchings, will de- liver the message at the 11 a.m. hour and Bill Mason, pi- anist, will lead the music. Brent Bingham will present special music and founders of the church, including H. S. Sellers, will be remembered. Following the worship hour a covered dish luncheon will be served in the fellow- ship hall.
