She was a homemaker and loved to play Bingo. Parris FFuneral Home Lindberg Dixon KINGS MOUNTAIN - | Alvin Lindberg Dixon, 82, of 811 Monroe Ave., died Oct. 9, 2009 i at Car- olinas Medical Center in Char- lotte. A na- fi tive of Cleve- land County, Sa he was the son of the late Rev. Kelly Dixon and Blanche Patterson Dixon. He was husband for 27 years to the late Janie Hovis Dixon, and also preceded in death by his brother, Delbert Dixon, and sister, Peggy Tinsley. Owner/operator of AL Dixon Construction Com- pany in Kings Mountain for 50 years, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Kings Mountain where he was devoted to Sidney’s Sunday School Class. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was an avid golfer. Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Shirley Johnson Dixon of the home; son, Eric L. Dixon of Gastonia; daughter, Sharon Whitlock and husband, Larry, of Bessemer City; brothers, Dale Dixon of Cary, Jake Dixon of Kings Mountain, and Lane Dixon of Grover; sisters, JoAnne Lundquist, New Berry, SC, Marilyn Hamrick and Becky Patter- son, both of Kings Moun- tain; three grandchildren, Alex Dixon, Nicole Beason and David Whitlock; two great-grandchildren, Bran- don and Brooke Whitlock. The funeral service was conducted Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at 3 p.m. at First Bap- tist Church. His pastor, Dr. John Sloan, officiated. Inter- ment, with military honors provided by Gastonia Police Department Color Guard, was held in Mountain Rest Cemetery after the cere- mony. The family received friends Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 from 1-3 p.m. in the Stained Glass Room of First Baptist Church. Born in Cleveland County, she was a daughter of the late DeKossie Wright and Lillie Jane Hoyle Wright and was also pre- ceded in death by her hus- band, James Gann, hitte imp brothers, Calvin A Wright and Ray Wright, and her sisters, Bonnie Ford and Hazel Smith. A member of Smyrna Baptist Church in Smyrna, SC, she was retired from the textile industry. Grannny Dot enjoyed gardening, cooking, country music, and she loved the Co ocean and birds. She was an amazing, caring and fun lov- ing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. The family would like to send their appreciation to Hospice at Wendover in Shelby and to the staff of White Oak Manor in Kings: Mountain. Wanda Reynolds KINGS MOUNTAIN - Wanda Layel Reynolds, 55, died Oct. 7, 2009 at Kings Mountain Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Ray Reynolds, Jr. The funeral was con- ducted Sat., Oct. 10, 2009 at 2 p.m. at El Bethel United and Methodist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Glenda Saltzmann GASTONIA - Glenda Mason Saltzmann, 55, of 601 Flowe St., died Oct. 7, 2009 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Wanda Smart KINGS MOUNTAIN - Wanda Smart, 52, died Satur- day, Oct. 3, 2009 at Wendover - Hospice in Shelby. She was born in Cleveland County on March 24, 1957, daughter of Virginia Byars Moore of Kings Mountain and the late George Oscar Moore Jr. : In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sisters, June Roberts and Janie Moore. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her daugh- ter and son-in-law, Amanda and Eric Nalley of Smyrna, SC; sisters and brothers, Gail Goodman of Fort Myers, FL, Becky Parker of Kings Mountain, Sandra Kay of Gastonia, Pete Moore of Blacksburg, SC, Carl Moore of Gastonia, and Sherry Bar- rett of Kings Mountain; and her grandchildren, Kaleb and Hunter Nalley. Born February 2, 1918, in Bath, SC, she was the daughter of the late Colie B. and Berdine Nancy Rice ‘Duffie and the wife of the late Herbert Marion Stone. She was a longtime employee of Spartanburg General Hospital and Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge. She was a member of Boiling Springs First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include two daughters, Thelma Elizabeth Stone Tucker and her hus- band Alfred of Cowpens, SC, and Pearl Virginia Stone Cox of Inman, SC; nine grandchil- dren, Vicki T. Willis, Deborah T. Dixon, Pamela T. Bobo, Jacqui T. Evett, and Junior, Roger, Ricky, Jerry and Her- bert Cox; 45 great-grandchil- dren and great-great-grandchildren; and special nieces and nephews.
