Wednesday, October 28, 2009 The Kings Mountain Herald Page 7A Young players prepare for KMLT production By EMILY WEAVER Editor A few dozen children took the stage inside Joy Theatre Thursday night in their first run-through rehearsal of “Char- lotte’s Web” which premiers Nov. 6. They have spent the past few weeks practicing lines and memorizing stage positions for the upcoming play. Al- though last Thursday night was their first official rehearsal, the young actors and actresses delivered most of their lines with ease. Kings Mountain Little Theatre Director Susan Cham- pion coached them through the practice, while Wendy Walega, another KMLT veteran, sorted the costumes. KMLT will offer special matinee showings of the play for local school children at the theatre. Walega said that they had scheduled three school field trip matinees and all three have already been sold out. She added that they have enough interest for a fourth show, but pulling the young actors out of school to accom- modate may not be possible. However, families with children, who may not be able to take a field trip to Charlotte’s and Wilbur’s enchanting farm, are encouraged to attend one of the several open pro- ductions through the play’s run at the Joy. We’ve kept our ticket prices low to encourage them to attend, Walega said. Shows will be offered Friday and Saturday nights be- ginning at 7 p.m. Nov. 6-7 and 13-14 and on Sunday after- noons Nov. 8 and 15. All are welcome to attend the open showings and to see the special talent these young actors and actresses possess. The Kings Mountain Historical Museum announced the grand prize winner of its sixth annual Reverse Raffle. Charles Neisler of Kings Mountain, shown here, was the last name drawn from 270 tickets sold this year. He was not present at the event on September 19, 2009 but received . his prize at the museum, presented by President of the Board Stella Putnam, right.
