The annual community- wide observance of Veter- ans Day Thursday, Nov. 11, will begin with a walk at 10:30 a.m. from the War Memorial downtown to Veterans Park of Mountain Rest Cemetery. The City of Kings Mountain-sponsored pro- gram will include "Flowers of the Forest" by the Loch Norman Pipe Band and "God Bless America" by Shana Adams in front of the Memorial. Mayor Rick Murphrey will lead the pro- cession for the 11 a.m. cer- emony at the cemetery. The parade arrival at the cemetery will feature "Highland Cathedral" by the Loch Norman Pipe Band, welcome by the mayor, presentation of col- ors by the Kings Mountain Police Honor Guard, the pledge of allegiance led by Boy Scout Troop 93, and the National Anthem sung by Shana Adams. Police Chief Melvin Proctor will give the invo- cation and Claude Pearson, Commander of American Legion Post 155, will give remarks and Veterans Prayer. The Loch Norman Pipe Band will play "Amaz- ing Grace" before the laying of the red, white and blue wreath by the mayor and Pearson.
