Mountaineers nin Cherryville 48-30

Kings Mountain picked
up three wins by forfeits,
and that was the difference
in the match as the Moun-
taineers defeated Cher-
ryville 48-30 in their
opening-season wrestling
match Tuesday night at
Donald L. Parker Gymna-
sium.
The Mountaineers
started off with a 12-0 lead
due to forfeits in the first
two matches but were be-
hind 24-18 before Steven
Byrd won a decision and
freshman Jonathan Clark
recorded a pin to put the
host team on top to stay,
27-24.
Josh ~~ Haraszkiewicz
recorded a pin and Dustin
Stone added a decision to
put the Mountaineers up
36-24: They closed out the
match with pins by Ariam
Lopez and Jaris Williams.
The Mountaineers also
got wins from freshmen
Colby Bailey, Riley Brock,
and Markel Hemphill. Pre-

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION
The Kings Mountain City Council will hold a public nett, LJ Bolding, John
hearing on Tuesday December 15, 2009 at 6:00 pm in
the Kings Mountain City Hall, 101 W. Gold Street, Kings
Mountain, NC. The purpose of this hearing is to receive
citizen comments about possible Community Develop-
ment Block Grant (CDBG) applications that may be sub-
mitted by the City to the North Carolina Department of
Commerce (DOC).
DOC has announced that CDBG funds are available
in 2009 for the categories of economic development,
Individual Development Ac-
count, small business and entrepreneurial assistance,
infrastructure and infrastructure hook-up, urgent needs
draught assistance, housing development, and capacity
building for local governments in North Carolina. These
funds are provided by the U.S. Department of Housing
and Urban Development to serve low and moderate in-
come persons and households.
All interested persons are invited to attend this hear-
ing. Persons with disabilities, non-English speaking per-
sons or those needing special assistance should contact
the City Hall at (704) 734-0333 at least 48 hours prior to
the hearing, or the North Carolina relay humber for the
deaf at 1-800-735-8262.
