Gold Street, died Thursday, De- cember 17, 2009 at White Oak Manor, Kings Moun- tain. Born in Lincoln County, daughter of the late Lafayette Ivan and Myrtle Costner Eaker, she was pre- ceded in death by her hus- band of 66 years, Clyde McClain Bridges; brothers, Gerald Eaker, Dick Eaker and Ralph Eaker; sister, Helen Warren; and two sons-in-law, Edgar Charles Wiggins and Dennis Gold Beatty. The oldest member of El Bethel United Methodist Church, she was involved in many ministries of the church including United . Methodist Women, youth work, Sunday school teacher and was in charge of the altar and altar flowers. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, artwork and quilt- ing. A graduate of Bethany High School, South Car- olina, she was an inspector and retired from Lambeth Rope, Kings Mountain. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of White Oak Manor and to Hospice of - Cleveland County and Dr. Cornelius Okonkwo. She is survived by a son, Ned Bridges and wife Judy of Gastonia; daughters, Car- ~olyn B. Ross and husband Manuel of Kings Mountain and Janice B. Raines and husband Bobby of Fallston; brothers, Jack Eaker and Boyce Eaker, both of Kings Mountain; sister, Ruth Gamble Mayhew of Shelby; grandchildren, Sherri Weeks and husband Paul of Shelby, Christy Bridges of Concord, Brian Beatty and wife Jennifer of Fallston; and great grandchildren, Morgan and Madison Weeks, and Brayden Beatty. Shonda Hagens, 27, with recent addresses in Besse- mer City and Gastonia, has been charged with soliciting for a crime against nature and possession of drug paraphernalia. . Officers from the Gasto- nia and Mount Holly police departments conducted the sting, visiting areas in Gas- tonia known for prostitu- tion. Ten suspects, in all, were either apprehended or were issued citations for charges ranging from solic- itation of prostitution to drug violations.
