Kings Mountains Mountaineers
dropped a non-conference doubleheader at
Shelby Tuesday, the girls losing 57-19 and
the boys 54-41.
Minus their leading scorer, Brittnee
Roberts, the KM girls couldn’t get their of-
fense going against a very talented Shelby
five. Shelby led 9-4 after the first quarter,
28-11 at halftime and 47-13 going into the
fourth quarter.
Evan Bragg led the Lady Mountaineers
~ with five points. Tiara McClain had six re-
bounds. Rashaida Dimetros had four and
Savannah Cash and Brook Davis added
the Lions for a quarter and a half before
Shelby’s height and depth took over.
The Mountaineers again got outstanding
play from Cedric Thompson and Brian
Brown, who helped them build a 16-10 lead
after the first quarter. But with three players
out of action, it didn’t take long for the
Mountaineers to begin tiring and Shelby
began dominating, especially inside. Shelby
came from behind to build a 28-21 halftime
lead and gradually pulled away in the sec-
ond half.
Zac Gullatte led the Shelby attack with
18 points. Thompson scored 18 for the
Mountaineers.
