Gina Ayscue is YMCA volunteer of the year The coveted 2009 Candy Arey Volunteer of the Year Award from Cleveland County Family YMCA has been awarded to Gina Ayscue, a member of the Kings Mountain YMCA board and active volunteer. YMCA CEO Cameron Corder made the presentation at the annual meeting re- cently. Ayscue, wife of Dan Ayscue, chaired the Y’s auc- tion committee in 2009 and served on the search commit- tee for the selection of a new branch executive. She has also been active in several fundraising initiatives for the YMCA. Said Corder, “Gina Ayscue exemplifes the quali- ties of Candy Arey and I be- lieve it should be the goal of every young female to emu- late the class and humility of Arey.” Since the Cleveland County Family YMCA's in- ception in 1992, Corder said that Candy Arey has been the most loyal esteemed, female benefactor the organization has known. Corder said Arey epitomizes the YMCA mis- sion and Christian spirit. She has been a part of the YMCA Board of Directors for eight of its 17 year existence and has served as chairman of the board during some of the YMCA’s most crucial years.” The Candy Arey award goes to the top female volun- teer across the YMCA's six branch association.
