The funeral service was conducted Saturday, March 6, at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel at Harris Funeral Home, interment following in Patterson Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Willie Mae Melton GASTONIA-Willie Mae Scruggs Melton, 79, of Gastonia, passed away Sat- urday, March 6, 2010 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was born March 29, 1930 in Spartanburg County, SC. to the late William Thomas Scruggs . and Edda Ruth Bruington Scruggs. Mrs. Melton was = a member of New Lid-fte Baptist Church 0 fre Besse- ner : City. She was a volunteer at Courtland Terrace and with Gaston Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and served meals. Mis. Melton is preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, Billy Earl Melton; daughter, Billie Sue Melton; sisters, Evelyn O’Neal, Josephine Starard, Jeanette Cope and Linda Scruggs. : - Her survivors are daugh- ters and sons-in-law, Mary Jane Johnson and Terry Johnson of Kings Moun- tain, Diane and Ben Roberts . of Kings Mountain, Kathy and Danny Gosnell of Dal- las. and Janet and Gene Rosser of Kings Mountain; brothers and sister-in-law, Gene Scruggs of Gastonia, Carroll and Shirley Scruggs of Kings Mountain, Clinton Scruggs of Gastonia; sisters and brother-in-law, Ollie Garmon of Clover, SC, Ann and Richard Stanley of Gas-' tonia; grandchildren Mandy Scoggins, Michael Payne, Andy Johnson, Susan Mob- ley, Benji Roberts, Amy Carroll, Shane Gosnell, Clay Roberts, and Eric Teasley; and 12 great- grandchildren. Visitation was at the fu- neral home one hour prior to the service. The funeral service was conducted Monday, March 8, at Greene Funeral Service Chapel, Gastonia, officiated by Rev. McKinney said that Matthew Melton of Grover, operating a 1994 Honda, said that his car slid on wet KM Blvd into the rear of a 2004 Toyota operated by Melisia Fannin, 813 Hill- side Dr., doing approxi- mately $4,000 damage. MARCH 6: Ptl. G.L. McKinney said that a dresser being hauled on the back of a 1984 Dodge truck operated by Shawn Ander- son of Grover fell off in the roadway on I-85 at Dixon School Road. Gaston County Crime Blotter Eric Ray Simpson, 43, of 341 Unity Church Rd., Kings Mountain, was ar- rested at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 21, for assault. Gaston County Police charged Simpson with intimidation/harass- ment and simple assault. Bobby Ray Williams, 35, of 113 Green Meadows Dr., Kings Mountain, was arrested Feb. 20 by the Gas- ton County Police. Williams has been charged with lar- ceny. Angela Sue Waycaster, 38, of 614 Mauney Ave. was arrested March 3 for larceny. Gaston County Po- lice arrested Waycaster at 124 S. South St., Gastonia.
