The funeral service was conducted Monday, June 14, 2010 at 3 p.m. at New Life Family Worship Center in Kings ,Mountain. Dr. Robert Eng officiated and interment was’ in Grover Funeral Tome Cemetery at Grover. Ray Brooks KINGS MOUNTAIN- Ray Brooks, 78, of 118 Woods Trail, Gastonia, died June 11, 2010 at Robin Johnson House in Dallas. Born in Gaston County, he ‘was son of the late Algar ai nd Mary Wallace Brooks fs and was retired from Preston Taylor Surveyors in Belmont after 35 years of service. He was» an active member of Trinity Baptist Church in Bessemer City where he was a deacon and lead guitarist; he loved his church very much. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Bradley Brooks of Gastonia; daugh- ters, Rebecca B, Parris and husband Robert, and Judy B. Holcomb, all of Kings Mountain; four grandchil- dren and five great-grand- children. The family received friends from 12:30-1:30 p.m. prior to the funeral service Monday, June 14, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist: Church in Bessemer City. Pastor Eric Ross officiated and interment was in Gas- ton Memorial Park in Gas- tonia. Cole FOREST CITY-Doris Howard (Dot) Cole, 82, for- mer resident of Forest City, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Carillon Assisted Living Center in Asheboro where she had been a resident for two years. Born June 25, 1927 in Mecklenburg County, she was the daughter of Ray H. and Ollie Miller Howard and was the widow of Roger D. Cole. She at- . tended Berea College in Berea, KY, and graduated from Rutherford Hospital School of Nursing with an RN degree and worked as a registered nurse. Later she worked for Drs. Bob Eng- land and Joe Godfrey. An active member of Pleasant Grove . United Methodist Church, she sang in the choir, served as past president of the UMW and enjoyed the Senior Group. She was also a talented artist and craftsmen who enjoyed knitting, crocheting and painting and was a lov- ing wife, mother, grand- mother and great-grandmother. For over 60 years he played and enjoyed Bluegrass and Gospel music. He always loved to entertain and en- joyed singing with his wife.
