Page 2A iii AR OBITUARIES Gi sd The Kings Mountain Herald Brenda Ross KINGS MOUNTAIN- Brenda McFalls Ross, 69, beloved wife for 51 years of Jerry Ross and a former Kings Mountain City Coun- cil member, went to be with the Lord Wednes- § diay, Aug. 11, 2010 at | hile ir home, Born i n Cleve- land County, she was the daugh- ter of the late Loyd McFalls and Etta McFalls Parton and Charles Parton. A member of Grace “United ‘Methodist Church, she held several po- sitions on church commit- tees and was a retired executive secretary = at Grover Industries. A won- derful wife, mother, grand- mother and friend, she loved and adored her grandchil- dren who affectionately called her “Grams.” Surviving, in addition to her husband, are their son, Tim Ross and wife, Debbie, and their daughters, Toni Ross Putman and Tammy Thornburg and husband, Lanny, all of Kings Moun- tain; her brother, Bobby Mc- Falls and wife, Shirley of Charlotte; and grandchil- dren, Ross Ellis and special friend Meredith Walker, Brian Thornburg and wife, Crystal, Ansley Putman, An- derson “Andy Putman, Tyler Ross, Tanner Ross and Tiffany Ross. The funeral service was conducted Saturday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. at Ollie Harris Me- morial Chapel. Rev. Tom Jolly and Rev. Mike Harrill officiated and burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Home Peggy Sandets KINGS dm JAE Peggy Joann Sanders, 81, of 610 Bridges Dr., died Aug. 14,2010 at Hos- pilicie House of Kings Moun- tain. Born in Gas- tion County, she was the daughter of the late William Haas and Ethel Cobb Lingerfelt and was’ also preceded in death by a brother Tyree Cobb Linger- felt. She was retired from the textile industry after 46 years of service and was a former employee of Heilig Myers. She was a member of Chris- tian Freedom Baptist Church in Kings Mountain and a member of the Red Hat So- ciety. She was a loving mother. Surviving are her sons, Michael Sanders and wife, Karen, of Casar, Philip Sanders and wife, Bonnie "and Eric Sanders and wife, Leanne, all of Kings Moun- tain; daughters, Tina Rad- ford and husband, Ricky “Rat”, and Paula Queen and husband, Tommy, all of Kings Mountain; brothers, Doug Haas of Dallas, Maxi Lingerfelt of Williamsburg, VA and Billy Lingerfelt of Gastonia; sisters, Faye Sanders of Kathleen, GA, Hazel Cribb of Patterson Springs and Linda Doss of Gastonia; nine grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted Monday, Aug. 16, at 4 p.m. at Ollie Harris Me- morial Chapel by Rev. Mike Chambers and Rev. Doug Ramsey, interment following + in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Bethlehem firefighters _ got the news about the fire district rule change after a recent state inspection. Groundbreaking for Duke training “center set for Friday morning Duke Energy will break ground Friday, Aug. 19 at 8:30 a.m. for its new Kings Mountain Generation Sup- port Facility in Cleveland County Industrial Park. The groundbreaking will be held at the job site at 1040 Beason Creek Drive. The 150,000 square foot facility will be located on 30 acres and will feature train- ing rooms, conference rooms, an auditorium and more. The training center will have available parking for up to 900 vehicles and will bring hundreds of Duke employees into the area for training. Duke Energy officials an- nounced the plan to come to Kings Mountain last year and county officials said at the time that the training center would be a catalyst for the development of the US Highway 74 interchange. The City of Kings Moun- tain will be supplying water, sewer and natural gas to serve the facility. WINDOWS: found broken in downtown Monday morning From Page 1 A plate glass window was shattered at 213 S. Battle- ground Ave., causing an estimated $1,000 worth of damage to the Wallace Propérties' building. Another window was bro- ken causing an estimated $500 worth of damage at Body Junction. A double pane window was also damaged at Timms Furniture, 909 S. Battleground Ave., valued at $750. Property owners reported to the police that they found their windows broken around 7 a.m. Monday morning. The windows were last known secure at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The investigation continues.
