Seniors in Motion donate chair to Jo
Seniors in Motion, an ex-
ercise class at the Patrick
Senior Center, has raised
funds to purchase a chair for
the ongoing renovation of
Kings Mountain Little The-
atre’s Joy Performance Cen-
ter. 2
Twenty-five members of
the class contributed to the
project what they could each
class time since September.
Within just a couple of
months, Seniors in Motion
had raised over $300 for
KMLT’s chair drive.
Seniors in the class said
that they hope other groups
will support this project in
making the theatre a gift for
all the community to enjoy.
‘The class is taught by Dr.
John Still, who sits on the
KMLT board of directors,
and Sharon Morris.
Former president of the
KMLT board, Jim Cham-
pion, said that their goal is to
raise enough money to pur-
chase 270 seats for the the-
atre.
“We’ve raised (money
for) 142 seats now, just over
50 percent (of our goal),” he
added.
As many theatre-goers
can attest, a lot of the current
seats in the theatre’s house
have outlived their prime.
Some are even broken. The
first round of new seats, sell-
ing’ at. about $300 each,
could be ordered as early as
next April.
Citizens, businesses,
clubs, organizations and
other groups can help pur-

memorating plaques can be
attached to seats.
i President of the KMLT
board of directors Teresa
Williams said that she hopes
what the Seniors in Motion
class did by raising a little at
a time will inspire other
groups to do the same. Both
Williams and Champion
were thrilled with the class’
contribution.
Them buying into our
project, verifies it for us,
Champion said.
Some of the ones who
gave money to the collection
* had to do without something
else, Williams noted adding
that she knows money can
be tight for seniors living on
fixed incomes.
Donations for seats can
also be made in memory of
“Angels of the theatre”, de-
ceased talents who have
made their mark on the Joy
stage or other stages.
To make a donation, call
the Joy Performance Center
at 704-730-9408 and leave a
message or send checks
payable to the Kings Moun-
tain Little Theatre with
