Page 2a RRS RR, David Hart LANSING-David Lester Hampton Hart, 61, died Sat- urday, Dec. 25, 2010 at his home, - He was born on October 23, 1949 in Ashe County, NC, to Lester Paul and Blan- nie Darnell Hart. In addition, to his parents, he was pre- ceded in death by his grand- father, Wade Hampton Darnell, aunt Lillian “Aunt Em” Darnell and paternal grandparents, Rey. Wells and Minnie Graham Hart. An accomplished gui- tarist and singer, he loved gospel music and perform- ing with family and friends at Cre- ston [CTE Super- ette. The family would like to thank those friends and the Wayne and Blanche Miller family who cherished David. A graduate of Northwest Ashe High School he was a sports standout in football, basketball and baseball. He earned a BS degree in Phys- ical Education and certifica- tion in Science from Gardner-Webb University where he also played foot- ball. He taught science and coached football at Kings Mountain Junior High be- fore his retirement. He re- turned to Ashe County where he worked for the Jef- ferson Post and later oper- ated a mowing service. He was the caretaker of several cemeteries including the Hart-Ham Cemetery. Mr. Hart was a good neighbor, had a loving heart, and helped many less fortunate. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. at Tuckerdale Baptist Church. Rev. Honorable Steve Goss and Rev. Lloyd Day officiated and interment was in Hart-Ham Cemetery. The family received friends from 12:30-2 p.m. on Thurs- day prior to the service. A native of Cherokee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Cleve and Kathleen Bailey Moore. She worked for Belk in Gas- tonia and was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Put- nam; two brothers, Bob and John Moore; and three sis- ters, Sarah Mullinax, Clara Rhea, and Shelia Tucker. Surviving are her hus- band Darvin Chastain of the home; three sons, Scott Put- nam, Mark Putnam, and Todd Chastain; three sisters, Virginia Bumgardner, Doris Wells and husband Pete, Brenda Sellers and husband two brothers, J.C. MauDava was a Sompetis tive ball- room dancer and was Senior Execu- tive Di- rector with Beauti- Control for 29 years. She was nationally known as a designer and maker of dance costumes. She believed in being involved in her com- munity, being a member of Toastmasters, volunteering with the Red Cross, Gaston Memorial Hospital and help- ing to build homes after Hur- ricane Katrina with a group from her church, All Saints Episcopal in Gastonia. She was a phenomenal mother and loving grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Owens.
