Page 2A TEI 2 OBITUARIES The Kings Mountain Herald Wednesday, February 9, 2011 Gladys McBee Bridges KINGS MOUNTAIN - Gladys McBee Bridges, 94, a resident of White Oak Manor, Kings Mountain, died . Friday, February 4, 2011 at White Oak Manor. Born in Gaffney, SC, daughter of the late Robert “and Wonie Wood McBee, widow of the Late Elvert Huey Tignor, and the late Golden B. Bridges, she was also preceded in death by her sons Gerald B. “Jerry” Bald- win, Joe B. Bridges; daugh- ter, Mary Frances Plonk; brother, Gregg. McBee; and sister, Ida Mae Tignor. She was a longtime member of Eastside Baptist Church, Kings Mountain, a former employee of Fulton Depart- ment Store and a home- maker. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Plumley -of Kings Mountain; daughter- in-law, Darlene Bridges of Kings Mountain; niece, Ann Sanders of Gaffney; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Ron Caulder at 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Eastside Baptist Church. Interment followed at Mountain Rest Cemetery. She was retired from Cooper’s Furniture ‘Store and was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, both in Kings Mountain. She is survived by daugh- ters, Carolyn O. Evans, Avis O. Morrow and husband Keith, all of Kings Moun- tain, Audrey O. Howell and husband Walter of Hickory Grove; brothers, Pete Wells and wife Doris, Ralph Wells and wife Helen, all of Kings Mountain; sister, Byrdie Bumgardner, of Kings Mountain; seven grandchil- dren and 12 great grandchil- dren. She was a home- maker, loving wife, daughter and a wonderful friend to many. Battleground Avenue. The city is recipient of a cor- ridor design grant from Car- olina Thread Trail. “The city continues to work to improve the quality of life in Kings Mountain and public health is of great importance in planning and guiding development,” said Mayor Rick Murphrey. The implementation of those pro- grams strengthen the con- nection between public health and human activities through land use, he said. +Gateway Community Initiative - The city and the Department of Interior Rails and Trails Conser- vancy. That effort includes developing an economic re- lationship with the two state parks and one federal park and developing York Road as the gateway to the three .
