Page 4A The Kings Mountain Herald Wednesday, April 6, 2011 Academic Awards at Kings Mountain High School Kings Mountain High School honored 10th-12th grade students with a cumulative 3.75 weighted GPA or higher for their academic achievements at an Academic Awards ceremony Thursday night in Barnes Audi- torium. National Honor Society members in the 12th grade re- ceived their NHS stoles to wear at graduation. Principal Ronny Funderburke welcomed a crowd of parents, friends, families and students to the 7:30 p.m. cere- mony. In addition to adorning the honor society seniors with stoles, he also handed each 12th grade student an engraved pen. KMHS School Counselor Leigh Bell led the ceremony, "entertaining the audience with a list of top 25 ways to annoy people. Assistant Principal Julie Rikard awarded the juniors with a KMHS lapel pin for their aca- demic achievements. Sopho- mores were awarded with engraved keychains by Assis- tant Principal Mickey More- head. SPO President Ashley Gilmore led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.
